Last night The Early Registration traveled to California to catch the Los Angeles date on Powerline’s 2015 tour. Of course you know Powerline is the biggest name is pop music today, so we could not have been more excited to see him live. Also, now with Zayn Malik’s departure from One Direction, Powerline’s star status will only grow more-and-more. And yeah, sure, we could have caught the performance on Pay-Per-View (that’s how big Powerline is), but why not be there in person?

Check out our concert review and some footage from the performance below!

Album Review: Forever | Jesse and the Rippers

Jesse and the Rippers - "Forever"
BY DAN GARCIA ★★★★★

Today marks the re-release of arguably the greatest album of all time, Jesse and the Ripper’s debut LP Forever, originally released via Fat Fish Records over two decades ago. Originally under-appreciated and misunderstood upon its release (it only reached the number one spot abroad in Japan), the Bay Area natives changed music for the rest of time forever with this project. Lead by San Francisco native Jesse Katsopolis, Jesse and the Rippers today top the discussion of the greatest rock group of all time, perhaps only in the conversation with the likes of The Beatles and The Rolling Stones. So when soft rock fans everywhere learned that Jay-Z’s new streaming service TIDAL would exclusively host the re-release of Forever, and in lossless FLAC CD quality, Jay-Z and listeners everywhere benefited as fans rushed to subscribe to the new Spotify competitor. And with three brand new tracks and a stellar re-mastering, Jesse’s Forever has a second chance to get the acclaimed reviews that it deserves.

A Complete Guide & Flowchart: Which TIDAL Artists/Owners Have Worked Together?

BY DAN GARCIA

Tidal Flowchart

Yesterdau, Jay-Z’s new artist-owned streaming service TIDAL held a huge press conference with a lot of star-power. TIDAL describes itself as “the first music streaming service that combines the best High Fidelity sound quality, High Definition music videos and expertly Curated Editorial.” In attendance for the press conference was Jay-Z, Beyonce, Kanye West, Jack White, Daft Punk, and Rihanna (just to name a few). Seeing so many great artists team up for one common goal, we couldn’t help but be reminded of the artists in the room that have made great music together in the past.

Of course Jay-Z has made a plethora of hits with friend Kanye West and wife Beyonce, but a lot of the collaborations in the room are maybe under your radar. So we took the liberty of creating a huge flowchart and guide to help you follow. Check out our flowchart above and hit the jump for a complete guide to learn which TIDAL artists/owners have worked together in the past.

Interview: Tae Miles (Cleveland’s Best Kept Secret)

BY WILL LAMPLEY

Very rarely does one listen to music from a local artist and end up being left surprised, enlightened and entertained. The surplus of Twitter rappers have created a cesspool in many a user’s mentions, and the idea of using social media to promote yourself to everyone within your reach has become less of a great tactic and more of a caricature. Cleveland rapper/singer/producer Tae Miles is only a few miles away from me, and I found his music through Twitter. After listening to him, I became entranced. He was one of the new guys that employed the Bone Thug cadence and delivery, but instead of biting it and letting St. Clair Avenue (a famous Cleveland street that Tae mentions on his latest single ‘Forfeit’) drip from his teeth, he transformed it into his own style, along with his other influences. He bleeds creative energy, charisma and humor in interviews. He has big aspirations and a clear vision, and he’s determined.

Last night Odd Future’s Earl Sweatshirt brought the “Not Redy 2 Leave” Tour to The Rave in Milwaukee, WI. Kicking things off for the Wisconsin crowd was the talented Queens native, rapper Remy Banks. Performing a number of songs from his growing collection of tracks, the highlight of Banks’ set came with the drop of his new Left Brain produced and ‘C.R.E.A.M.’ inspired single, ‘.rem’. Following Banks’ energetic performance was Vince Staples, easily one of the most talented young lyricists who made quite a buzz last year with his Hell Can Wait EP. And soon after the Long Beach rapper’s performance of his ‘Blue Suede’ track, Staples brought out the man of the night, OFWKTA’s Earl Sweatshirt.

UNCUT: Rolling Stones Guitarist Ronnie Wood’s Glastonbury Comments on Kanye West are Racist

Uncut
BY DAN GARCIA

I was always on the Rolling Stones side of the Beatles vs. Stones debate… until today. Speaking with the U.K.’s Daily Mirror, Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood thinks it’s “bloody ridiculous” that Kanye West is headlining Glastonbury and to be honest, it came off “bloody racist.” Talking in response to a recent online petition, that gathered thousands of signatures to remove Kanye from Glastonbury’s lineup, Wood said “It’s bloody ridiculous that Kanye is the headline act this year. It pisses me off so I try not to think about it too much.” Wood supported tried to support his comments by saying:
