6. Courtney Barnett – Sometimes I Sit And Think, And Sometimes I Just Sit

Australian singer-songwriter and guitarist Courtney Barnett has received a large amount of critical acclaim with her debut album Sometimes I Sit And Thing, And Sometimes I Just Sit. Though its title is a mouthful, the 11-track LP is musically brilliant through its use of instruments and Barnett’s songwriting on the album is not far behind. Following her two 2013 EPs, this is Barnett’s best project yet with a number of quality records, but its highlights coming through her songs ‘Elevator Operator’ and ‘Depreston’. Even if indie rock is not your forte, it is well worth stepping out of your comfort zone and giving Barnett’s debut a listen.
