Today kicked off the opening day of Chicago’s 5th annual North Coast Music Festival, which will features acts like Kid Cudi, Snoop Dogg, Talib Kweli, Bassnectar, Action Bronson and many others over the weekend. Today we caught some of our favorite acts of the festival, including BadBadNotGood, Chet Faker, Action Bronson and Bassnectar.
In our inaugural year and summer as your daily source for music, we were given the great opportunity of being invited to cover Chicago’s North Coast Music Festival‘s 5th Anniversary. If you find yourself in Chicago this weekend, The Early Registration has the acts that you should be most excited to see.
It’s that time of year again. FYF Fest is happening this weekend in the city of sunny Los Angeles, California. Having the fortune of being able to go for both days, I am very excited to see a slew of artists crossing several genres, some new, some old, and some reunited again after a hiatus (with the unfortunate exception of Death Grips due to breaking up last July). Here are my 10 most anticipated acts:
Unfortunately we all know of the travesty in Ferguson, Missouri, where unarmed teen Michael Brown was shot down by police on August 9, 2014. Ever since that night, those who feel the sting of injustice knowing that Brown was shot at least six times while unarmed have began to protest, both violently and peacefully. While those that are currently situated in Ferguson are protesting, many prominent musicians have also began to protest both physically and through their words. Let us take a look at some of the big names in music currently supporting the people of Ferguson and their cause.
Although 2014 has not been strongest year for albums thus far, being a couple months past the half way point of the year we have compiled our list of the best albums of the year so far.
Google Correlate offers a tool which users can match the popularity of various web search terms across the various U.S. states (adjusted for population). Using this service we searched some of your favorite artists to map out their fan bases and some of the results may surprise you.
In an exchange where the interviewer has a direct interest to get the juiciest details out of an artist, sometimes even wanting to provoke the artist (see Charlamagne Tha God), sometimes artists just can’t keep their cool. Here are our top ten moments of just that. Credits to KanyeToThe for some of the examples.
The world tragically lost one of its favorite actors and comedians yesterday, a void that can never be filled. With classic films like Good Will Hunting, Patch Adams, Dead Poets Society, Mrs. Doubtfire and many others, we will never forget Robin Williams. To keep the memory alive we have compiled a list with ten of the best moments were rappers paid homage and reference to the comedy legend that is Robin Williams.
Even if you do not know the name, you certainly know Martin Garrix. In fact, you are probably one of his over 300,000,000 views on his video for his song ‘Animals’ on YouTube, uploaded just a year ago. At only 18-years-old Martin Garrix is tearing up the festival scene and quickly rising to be one of the world’s top DJ/producers, and just last week I was able to sit down with him for an interview at Lollapalooza.
This was our first year at Lollapalooza and it was better than we ever imagined! While on-site we talked to some amazing artists and captured some great shots along the way. Check out our best photos below, shot by The Early Registration’s Dan Garcia.
