A few hours ago, the first headlining performances came to a close for the opening night ofSummerfest‘s big 49th Anniversary. To no surprise, Milwaukee’s lineup for Summerfest this year is the most diverse of all major music festivals in 2016. Yesterday “the World’s Largest Music Festival” revealed its over 90 headlining acts (with more to come), so today we have our most anticipated headlining acts for Summerfest 2016. This year Summerfest takes place from June 29 – July 3 and July 5 – July 1o at the Summerfest Grounds in Milwaukee, WI and you can check here for ticket information. What’s cooler than going to a music festival at The Indy 500? Nothing, right? Well get excited because The Indy 500 Snake Pit is returning to Indianapolis this year and it just announced its huge lineup. Performing at the festival this year will be ED superstars Skrillex, Martin Garrix, Zeds Dead and hip-hop mega producer DJ Mustard. The Snake Pit will take placed on Sunday, May 29th and there is no better way to spend your Memorial Day weekend.

Earlier this year, Martin Garrix cut ties with his former label, Spinnin’ Records and MusicAllStars Management, after a dispute over music ownership. Discussing Garrix’s departure, the label and management company stated, “we were plainly willing to meet Martijn (Martin Garrix) in his wishes to negotiate the current agreements in his favor… Yet Martijn decided to unilaterally end the cooperation as of now. Of course we regret this decision.”
However, although the EDM superstar and his former label decided to cut ties last August, things were not over as the battle over ownership of Garrix’s music led to legal action (through a summary proceeding) on behalf of Garrix. Months later, the issue has now been resolved (for now at least). Per his agreement with Spinnin’ Records, Garrix will grant an exclusive license, for a limited period, to Spinnin’ Records for tracks that were released by the label until August of 2015. In return, Spinnin’ has transferred ownership rights back to Garrix. Let’s hope that the two sides continue to work things out!
Last night, Alex Metric performed for thousands at the UIC Pavillion in Chicago, IL, while the British DJ/producer supported EDM superstars Zedd and Dillon Francis (and surprise guest Martin Garrix) on their huge North American tour. Starting the party right and kicking off everyone’s Halloween weekend, Metric got everyone on their feet, whether they were an established fan of the legendary London-based producer for years or whether they just became a fan last night.
Chicago was one of the first cities to get to experience Metric’s brand new EP live. The fourth piece of his Ammunition series, Ammunition Pt. 4 is a collective of five huge new records that were designed to get the whole world moving. Whether it’s a house party down the road at the University of Illinois-Chicago or the UIC Pavilion last night, Ammunition Pt. 4 is what every bass head needs in their life right now.
As the crowd (made primarily of UIC students) filled in to find their seats, and you can bet that not one seat was actually sat on throughout the night, everyone was feeling the music to Metric’s blend of Ammunition Pt. 4 and some of his earlier mixes. Metric’s appearance was modest and simple, looking like a laid back everyday guy in his black t-shirt, but his music was far from average.
His music was impossible not to dance to, as his show was dedicated to constant movement of light, sound, and the audience. Metric isn’t just a shadow spinning beats. The arena also played complement to the performance. The music was louder than you could imagine and you could feel the bass vibrating throughout the arena and into your bones in the best way possible, especially during Metric’s own remix of ‘Lean On’, perhaps the highlight of his set.
Whether the crowd was being mesmerized by the trippy visuals in the backdrop, or whether they were swaying their hands in unison side-to-side like waves from Lake Michigan, Metric was like a club’s best bartender, in that his sole job was to keep the party going. And with such being the case, Alex Metric is due for a promotion because the party got off to a great start and made the jobs for Zedd and Dillion Francis that much easier.

Chicago’s Spring Awakening Music Festival lineup just got that much more sweet, as it was announced that Jack Ü (Skrillex & Diplo) will appear as the surprise headliner (this will mark the first time that the two have performed in the Midwest as a duo). Jack Ü is bound to put on a great show at Chicago’s Soldier Field, as they will be performing in promotion of their debut album, which released last week with appearances by Missy Elliott, 2Chainz, Justin Bieber and more.
