North Carolina may not be home to the biggest attractions in the music festival circuit, but it more than makes up for that fact with expertly curated gatherings such as Hopscotch Music Festival. Slated for September 10-12, this year’s edition of the artistic celebration will feature 160 acts spread throughout 12 venues in the state capital of Raleigh. Previous lineups have included various names such as Big Boi, Jamie xx, How To Dress Well, St. Vincent, Local Natives, Action Bronson, and a host of others, so it’s no surprise this year’s imprint is poised to be just as diverse. In order to give attendees a taste of what’s in store for Hopscotch 2015 (and if you don’t have your tickets yet to can get them here) we’ve listed five acts ranging from rap to post-rock that simply can’t be missed.

Mamby on the Beach is just a couple weeks away, and like real estate, it’s all about location, location, location! This year the 18-and-up festival will see performances from Empire of the Sun, Passion Pit, Zhu, Cashmere Cat, Phantogram, Cherub, Art Department and many more! Cashmere Cat has really blown up this past year, and he is showing no signs of stopping. Not only is he currently supporting Ariana Grande on her Honeymoon Tour, but as soon as he is done warming up arenas, he heads to venues to headline a tour of his own. Last night Cashmere performed for a sold-out crowd at The Mirmar in Milwaukee, playing a number of cuts including his new DJ Mustard collaboration ‘Ice Rink’ as well as his highly anticipated Kanye West track ‘Wolves’, the first song on Kanye’s forthcoming So Help Me God album. Check out our photos below, as The Early Registration was there to capture some of the best moments.
Check out Ty Dolla Sign’s new Tinashe and Charli XCX collaboration ‘Drop That Kitty’, produced by Stargate and Cashmere Cat. The new single is from Ty’s forthcoming debut album FreeTC, and can be downloaded now on iTunes. Check out the track below and look out for its music video soon, which features Ty, Tinashe, Charli, and Wiz Khalifa.
Kanye West may very well be one of the least predictable artists of his generation. When you think he’s gone punk, he collaborates with pop princess Rihanna and legend Paul McCartney. When you think he’s finally won over the media, he gets in trouble from an post-awards show. So these instances might explain why during his NYFW show, Kanye premiered a brand new song titled ‘Wolves’, the first track from his album-featuring Chicago rapper/singer, the super creative Vic Mensa, as well as ‘Chandelier’ singer Sia. The record takes a much darker turn from his previous singles ‘Only One’ and ‘FourFiveSeconds’ and rather than including wildly successful established and iconic artists like Ms. Fenty and The Beatles frontman, it features two lesser known but up-and-coming and diversely talented artists. The track was produced by Cashmere Cat, along with Sinjin Hawke.
You can listen to the song and watch the accompanying visuals from the show below.
