After delivering a number of memorable Windy City performances throughout the years, singer Lana Del Rey performed her first ever arena show in Chicago tonight, at the city’s historic United Center.
Performing in support of her 2017 album, Lust For Life, Lana’s “La to the Moon Tour” brings the singer’s nostalgic charm, beautiful vocals and catalog of singles and fan favorites to a number of cities across North America. Tonight was certainly no exception.
Check out photos from tonight’s performance below.
In addition to supporting Lana Del Rey on her big arena tour, singer Jhene Aiko will be headlining a North American tour of her own, with dates throughout the U.S. and Canada to end 2017.

Before he heads out to support The Weeknd on the Starboy: Legend of the Fall Tour, Atlanta’s 6LACK has shared his new collaboration with singer Jhene Aiko. Titled ‘First F*ck’, the brand new Singawd produced track showcases the talents of 6LACK and shows us why there is no better supporting artist for a track than Aiko.
While 6LACK is still enjoying the success of his debut project, FREE 6LACK, which released this past November, ‘First F*ck’ is another song to get excited about. And if you like what you hear, be sure to catch the R&B newcomer on tour with The Weeknd, which kicks off on April 25 in Vancouver, with stops all throughout North America.

Watch as the lovely and talented, Jhene Aiko, makes her directorial debut with visuals for her new single ‘Maniac’. Co-directed with Topshelf Junior, the Twenty88 singer and new director is one for one with the steamy new video.
And if you like what you see and hear, there is more to come, as ‘Maniac’ is the first track from Aiko’s forthcoming, and currently untitled, sophomore LP. Aiko’s next project will be the follow up to her debut album, Souled Out, which definitely set high expectations for fans everywhere.
Minutes ago, rapper and notorious tokers Snoop Dogg & Wiz Khalifa packed the Hollywood Casino Bowl Amphitheatre in Tinley Park, IL. Dubbed “The High Road” Tour, not only did Wiz and Snoop bring two of the biggest weed advocates in music to Chicago (2nd and 3rd to maybe Willie Nelson), but they brought some great supporting acts, including the lovely and talented Jhene Aiko, Kevin Gates, Casey Veggies and DJ Drama. Top to bottom, the crowd was in for a memorable night from the very beginning.
With DJ Drama keeping the crowd live between sets, up first for the night was ‘Backflip’ rapper, Casey Veggies. Originally known for his affiliation with the Tyler The Creator-led collective, Odd Future, Casey has been all about his solo career for quite sometime now, and has been recently enjoying the success of his 2015 debut album, Live & Grow. With features from Dej Loaf, Tyler The Creator, YG, BJ The Chicago Kid and more, Veggies put out an impressive debut last year and tonight he performed a number of his records from his 2015 LP.
Following Veggies opening performance, the beautiful Jhene Aiko took stage for her Chicago fans. Your favorite rapper’s favorite guest singer, Jhene Aiko has laid down some memorable vocals for everyone from Childish Gambino and Big Sean to Drake, Omarion and many more. Most recently Aiko teamed up with Sean to form their duo, Twenty88, which came with an 8-track EP that released earlier this year. Don’t be under the impression though that Aiko only works best complementing the best rappers in the game, as her solo records are perhaps her best work. Tonight Aiko performed some of her best records, including ‘The Worst’ and ‘To Love & Die’, as well as other tracks from her debut EP, Sail Out, and her 2014 debut album, Souled Out. Aiko provides a nice change of pace from the rappers that takeover the tour’s lineup, but still provides a sound that rap fans across the board can enjoy.
Next up was ‘Really Really’ and ‘2 Phones’ rapper Kevin Gates, who brought performances from his 2015 debut, ISLAH’. Gates brought street rap straight from Louisana to Chicago tonight, and it was more than well received. With Snoop and Wiz’s headlining performance just minutes away, the crowd was ready to turn up the tempo and Gates got the amphitheatre off their seats.
And before fans had the opportunity to catch their breath after Gates turned up performance, it was time for Snoop Dogg to great his Windy City fans. Opening the solo portion of his set, Snoop Dogg started things on the highest note possible by blessing fans with performances of his classic records, including ‘Gin & Juice’ and ‘Nuthin’ But a G Thang’. And before you knew it, was time for Wiz to join Snoop on stage. If you’d expect two weed advocates like Snoop and Wiz to put on a slow paced and mellow performance together, you’d be greatly mistaken as the two performed together with especially high energy (no pun intended). While Snoop and Wiz both have casual and laid back personalities on-stage and off, their performance tonight was far from mellow, and gave fans everything they wanted and more.

A collaboration between Big Sean and Jhene Aiko is something that 2016 needed. Big Sean’s last album Dark Sky Paradise was his best work so far, and the album that really created his own sound. Jhene’s last album Souled Out dropped 2 years ago. The artists have pretty much gone into hibernation since then. The two brought together their talents to form the group “Twenty88.” It’s hard to tell if Twenty88 is a one time thing or if they will drop more sexy R&B albums in the future.
The self titled album by Twenty88 is bound to be something special, one can only expect this album to have beautiful high notes from Jhene and low, smooth bars from Sean about love, lust, and ex’s. The EP project is about the tension and power struggle that couples go through, only having 8 songs. On the other hand, there are songs about the real love and passion that comes after those meaningless fights. Both Jhene and Sean have had their fair share of relationships and side pieces. This album has songs that are both personal to them, and songs that every person can relate too. There are also a lot of songs that people simply can not relate to. You only have those experiences if you are at the celebrity status of Big Sean or Jhene Aiko. It is fun to listen to some of these songs and get a taste of what it is like to be in love with an A list celebrity.
Starting off the project is the song ‘Déjà vu.’ Big Sean drops his classic “straight up” line to start the song. When you hear “straight up” you know the song is about to be lit. With soft Drake like beats, we get a smooth harmony between the two artists that makes you rewind to listen again. The song is about a memory the both Sean and Jhene share that brings them back to the times they had with each other while they were together. The couple has been broken up for 3 years and are just seeing each other again for the first time since. Reminiscing on the past and how great they were together. Only problem is that it’s far too late. She already has a kid, is dating an athlete, and doesn’t have time for him. The damage is done. The only thing they can do now it look back at what they used to have.
The second song ‘Selfish’ is a song where the artists express how they felt about the person playing hard to get. Sean speaks on how he dropped all of his other girls for her, spent money he didn’t have, lost sleep for her and she doesn’t even have the time to text him back. Jhene has good reasoning for being shady towards Sean. She asks him how someone could betray and lie to someone that had been with them through thick and thin. Both of them are doing things that are not healthy for the relationships.
They have an interesting song named ‘Talk Show.’ The song is an interview with Big Sean and Jhene on a popular talk show where they are invited to talk about their relationship. They are the power couple at the time and have to keep the act up. The beginning of the song they both say how much they love each other and how perfect they are. Once Sean expresses his love for Jhene she confesses that they really aren’t so perfect. She calls Sean out in front of everyone for cheating on her. Sean bites back by saying that he hates when she tries to make there business public. Being hypocritical, he tells everyone that she also cheated on him. This song is meant to show that just because celebrity couples look perfect and happy, there are usually some pretty evil things going on behind the scenes.
The final song on the short album named ‘London Bridge’ is about how historical it is going to be when they break up. Through out the album you see them fall in love, get torn apart, and then fall back in love. If one of them were to leave it would be as historical as when the London Bridge fell down in the 19th century. This song is really one that has one of those “happy” endings. This whole album had a constant story line. While listening you felt like you were watching a movie.
Well guess what, Twenty88 decided to make a 14 minute film about the album. The short movie titled “Out Of Love” is everything that you would want to see after listening to this album. Being set in the future you still see that love is that same whether its 2016 or 2116. It features nearly all the songs. There are some R-Rated sex scenes and other things that make this album that much more real. Be warned, listening to this album will bring back memories whether you like it or not.
If Wiz Khalifa and Snoop Dogg have two things in common, it’s their love for rap and their love for weed. So it was only right that the two go on tour this summer, and (pun intended) name it “The High Road” tour with Merry Jane as the sponsor. And if Wiz and Snoop weren’t reason enough to get excited for this one, they will have some great company on the road as the lovely Jhene Aiko and the always entertaining Kevin Gates and Casey Veggies will join them as very special guests.
The tour is set to kick off July 20th in West Palm Beach and will make stops throughout North America, including Toronto, Chicago, New York and many more, until the tour concludes in early September. Pre-sale starts today with the code MERRYJANE, so get your tickets here while you still can.

In 2014 our Editor-in-Chief and lead photographer Dan Garcia teamed up with Pigeons & Planes to cover Lollapalooza, live at Chicago’s Grant Park. Returning to the festival the next year, Garcia got to witness some of the best moments from the premiere festival in the past couple years. Returning to Grant Park this year, Lollapalooza is expanding the festival to include a fourth date for its 25th Anniversary, and many expect festival organizers to release its best lineup yet by the end of the month. So to celebrate Lolla’s 25th Anniversary and built up anticipation until it’s forthcoming lineup is announced, we are sharing some of our favorite moments and photos from Lollapalooza since our publication’s inception.
Jhene Aiko is officially back, and this time with Los Angeles based artist, Gallant. After the release of Jhene’s new record ‘B’s & H’s’ last week, this time the Souled Out singer provided vocals along side Gallant, for his new track ‘Skipping Stones’. Just a couple days away from Gallant’s two-track digital release this Friday (February 5th), ‘Skipping Stones’ is a great collaboration from Aiko and the exciting emerging singer.
Childish Gambino and the lovely Jhene Aiko have paired up again, for another amazing record. This time teaming up with Long Beach rapper, Vince Staples, the trio combined talents for Ryan Coogler’s new film “Creed”, a sequel to the Rocky franchise. Co-written by Gambino’s friend and producer Ludwig Goransson, everything from the instrumentals to the lyrics and vocals for this new track, titled ‘Waiting For My Moment’, will give you chills. This is the first new track from Gambino and Aiko both, in quite some time, so stream it now and cross your fingers as the record has been submitted for the “Best Original Song” category of the Oscars. This may lead to an Oscar nomination (or more) to follow Bino’s first set of Grammy nominations from last year.
