New Frank Ocean music could be coming sooner than you thought. Frank took to his tumblr and his newly-designed website www.frankocean.com to announce “two versions” of what appears to be a magazine or book of some sort. It is titled “Boys Don’t Cry” and it is very ambiguous. What’s the source of real excitement is the hashtags underneath the photo, “#Album3” and “#July2015”, hinting that the long-awaited followup to 2012’s channel ORANGE might come this summer.
[Update: Frank Ocean’s team has since confirmed that “Boys Don’t Cry” will be a publication and Frank’s new album. You can expect the album around July!]
Frank Ocean’s upcoming LP topped our list of ‘Most Anticipated Albums of 2015’. You can check it out here.
There quite a few musicians who look like they be brothers or sisters, and even some that look practically identical. You pretty much can’t watch a Toro y Moi video on YouTube without seeing at least a few people make a Donald Glover (Childish Gambino) related joke in the comment section. So we wondered what it would be like if some of these doppelgangers got in the studio and actually made a song together. Check out our list of the five musician doppelgangers that need to work together, with some that could maybe happen one day and some which definitely aren’t as likely.
In his recent feature with GQ, Chicago’s Chance the Rapper spilled some awesome details about his debut LP. When speaking about Chance’s debut LP’s guest features, GQ’s Byard Duncan writes “His subsequent guest appearances—nasally breathless, startlingly precocious—gained the attention of artists like Frank Ocean, J. Cole, and André 3000, all of whom will appear on his yet to be named debut LP.” If we weren’t already, this definitely has us hype for Chance’s debut album, especially since his last mixtape Acid Rap was critically acclaimed and an excellent follow-up to his 10 Day project.
Earlier today we released our 30 Most Anticipated Albums of 2015 list and to top our list was Frank Ocean’s upcoming sophomore release, the follow-up to his critically acclaimed and Grammy winning debut channel ORANGE. Frank will certainly be in good company this year as our list also included the likes of Kanye West, Kendrick Lamar, Drake, Chance the Rapper, Adele and more, who are all expected to release new albums in 2015.
After a number of music’s big names were touring or recording for the majority of last year, which made 2014 fairly average for album releases, 2015 is already looking to be a great year for albums as those artists release their new projects this year. This year alone we are likely to see releases from music superstars like Kanye West, Kendrick Lamar, Drake and Adele, but we are also looking forward to a number of sophomore and debut albums from artists like Frank Ocean, Raury, Vic Mensa and more. Check out our list of the 30 most anticipated albums of 2015 to get updated on what releases you need to look out for in the next 12 months.

New music from Frank Ocean is a rarity since his debut album channel ORANGE, but when he does bless fans with new tracks, he takes to his Tumblrand virtually out of nowhere (as he did in November of 2014 with his track ‘Memrise‘). Tonight was no exception as Frank Ocean surprised everyone with new music, this time a beautiful cover of Aaliyah’s ‘At Your Best’. This one showcases Frank’s range more than anything we have heard from him before. Let’s hope that this leads to a lot more from Frank, maybe his collaboration with Lil B, as his sophomore album (release date TBD) is one of the most anticipated projects of 2015 (assuming it comes out this year). Stream ‘At Your Best (You Are Love)’ below.
Frank Ocean has finally come of out hiding. After a two year hiatus, hours ago Frank Ocean shared his new track, ‘Memrise’. Posting the song through his Tumblr, ‘Memrise’ is like nothing we heard on Frank’s debut channel ORANGE. It is definitely good to hear some new music from Frank, as he has kept fans waiting and just days ago we posted a piece on Frank and long hiatuses in music. Stream the new track here!
For our Hate It or Love It series we take a current hot topic in music news that polarizes reasonable minds in the music and entertainment world, and we have one of our writers advocate for one side of the argument and have another one of our writers advocate for the other side (trying our best to always stay fair and balanced). One debatable topic in music has resurfaced with today’s release of Rick Ross’ Hood Billionairealbum, Ross’ second album release in 2014. While artists like Ross do not let long periods pass before releasing new projects, other artists take noticeable hiatuses between releases, but which model is better for the musician?
