The 57th Annual Grammy Awards are just around the corner, and because (especially in the hip-hop world) things may not go as we hope, we want to submit our picks now. But we won’t be suggesting WHO WILL bring home the most prestigious awards in music but rather WHO SHOULD. Check out our picks below of what artists and albums should win at the Grammys this year.
Hours ago, Childish Gambino (Donald Glover) performed his STN MTN/Kauai track ‘Sober’ and his Grammy nominated ‘3005’ as the musical guest on ABC‘s “Jimmy Kimmel Live”. Just last week Donald released the fun new video for the track (one of the best music videos of the past couple years) and now we have the song’s first televised performance. Stream the performances below and be sure to catch Gambino at “The Farm” as the rapper will be performing Bonnarrothis year.
As opposed to just releasing a conventional lineup poster, Bonnaroo switched things up this year by allowing fans to take a part in the lineup announcement. After calling 1-844-ROO-2015, fans could get the name of an artist on this year’s lineup and make the announcement on social media. And who did they announce? Well let’s just say that “The Farm” will be as good as ever in 2015, with scheduled performances by Kendrick Lamar, Childish Gambino, Florence + the Machine, Billy Joel, Mumford and Sons, Deadmau5 and many more scheduled to perform. Check out more of the official lineup below.

Throughout television and cinema we are constantly introduced to singers, bands and rappers whom we desperately wish were real, but usually the best we can hope for is a sequel. Most recently we have Fox and Terrance Howard’s new series Empire, which follows rapper turned label head Lucious Lyon. Next up we will have Donald Glover’s (Childish Gambino) upcoming FX comedy Atlanta, which will follow two cousins who have very different views on how to rise up in the Atlanta rap scene. To help build the anticipation to these two series, and to get nostalgic on past fictional artists, have comprised a list of the best, most swagged out, and absolutely awesome musicians whom we wish were real (and even one who kind of is).
Earlier this week Childish Gambino (Donald Glover) tweeted and soon deleted a link to a mysterious countdown that was set for 2:00 a.m. on January 9th (Central time). The countdown link was all-black, sleek and simply showed the counter in the bottom right of the page with no information as what it was for. While we could only speculate what it is was for, the wait is now over.
THC is the Grammy nominated production team behind some of your favorite Kendrick Lamar, Schoolboy Q, and Chris Brown tracks and now they have added Childish Gambino to their list of collaborators. Check out their new track ‘Perfect’ with Gambino and OverDoz’ frontman Kent Jamz. Stream ‘Perfect’ below.
While his Twitter now remains as a blackout, Childish Gambino tweeted and since deleted a link to a countdown set for 2:00 a.m. on January 9th (Central time), a link which his brother also tweeted. The countdown link is all-black, sleek and simply shows the counter in the bottom right of the page with no information as what its for. Is it the teaser for his new television show Atlanta? Is it new music? Is it a huge announcement? Only time will tell, but definitely stay tuned.
Spoiler alert, at least as shown in the trailer, Donald Glover (Childish Gambino) gets killed by Olivia Wilde in the upcoming horror film “The Lazarus Effect”. The silver lining though is she comes back from the dead to do it, so technically a black guy doesn’t die first in this horror film… technically. Check out the trailer below. “The Lazarus Effect” comes out February 27th and is from the producer of “The Purge” and “Paranormal Activity”.
In 2014, we at The Early Registration have been able to cover and send our photographers to a lot of great shows throughout the country. Check out our list below (in no particular order) to see some of our favorite shows and best shots of the year.
