Right now, Future is on stage for a sold-out Orpheum Theatre, kicking off The Purple Reign Tour in Madison, Wisconsin. And while usually there are plenty of places you’d rather be in February than the frigid Midwest, there was (and is) no better place to be tonight than Future’s tour opener with Ty Dolla $ign, less than a mile west of the always crazy University of Wisconsin campus. Only half-way through the show tonight, you can already tell that the Badger crowd came to party. So the rest of the tour stops (I’m looking at you, Chicago) better be ready to match the energy of tonight’s crowd and the Epic Records’ premiere artist.
Tonight kicked off to a great start with a memorable opening performance from Free TC rapper/singer, Ty Dolla $ign. The Kanye West-affiliated rapper, who played a big role on Ye’s latest LP The Life of Pablo, rapped a number of tracks off his critically acclaimed debut album, which released just last year. Free TC ended up on many year end lists in 2015, and featured appearances from Kanye West, Kendrick Lamar and R. Kelly, just to name a few. Rightfully so, a highlight of Ty’s set tonight came as he performed his Future-assisted single, ‘Blasé’, which also features ‘No Type’ rappers, Rae Sremmurd. Although Future stayed backstage, preparing for his set, and Rae Sremmurd stayed back in Atlanta, Ty Dolla $ign needed no help getting the Wisconsin crowd hyped for the track. An exciting emerging act who is worth the price of admission alone, Ty Dolla $ign surely delivered for the tour’s opener.
With a brief intermission following Ty Dolla $ign performance as crew prepared for the man of the hour, it was soon time for the DS2 rapper to hit the stage. Future’s set began as his DJ, DJ Esco, played a couple Future records to amp up the crowd and build Madison’s anticipation. Singing along word-by-word, the sold-out crowd was not only enjoying Esco’s cuts, but were also anxious and excited for Future to take stage. And it wasn’t long before Madison could see their Future right before their eyes, as he came out, rapping to his hit track ‘I Thought It Was a Drough’. Next, opening The Purple Reign Tour with other fan favorites like ‘Move That Dope’ and ‘Same Damn Time’, any irrational worries about imperfect setlists were soon put to rest. Even with many songs left to go tonight, Future’s setlist for this tour will not disappoint fans, diehards and late-to-the-party fans alike.

Earlier today OVO Sound’s, Majid Jordan announced the official dates for their forthcoming North American tour. Kicking off March 14th in San Francisco, the ‘My Love’ producers will hit stops in Los Angeles, Toronto, Atlanta, New York, Boston and more, until the tour concludes on April 5th in Chicago. Tickets for this anticipated tour go on sale in just a couple days (this Friday) at MajidJordan.com so definitely be sure to get some before they are all gone. Touring for their first time since signing with Drake’s OVOSound, the guys are certainly expected to put on a great show, surely performing a number of cuts from their self-titled debut album.
Yesterday rapper Young Thug shared his brand new music video for his track ‘Worth It’, a new record off his forthcoming Slime Season 3 mixtape. Produced by London On The Track and directed by Be EL Be, the sexy music video stars Thugger himself, with his girlfriend Miss Jerrika Karlae. This marks the first released visuals, of what will surely be more, from Thug’s new mixtape.

We covered Dustin Lynch’s recent Chicago tour stop and now the country singer is already on his way back and for a great cause, to help alleviate the financial and emotional burdens of families and individuals dealing with medical crises. Headlining the Keith Relief benefit concert, a charity ran by Chicago Blackhawks superstar Duncan Keith, Lynch will surely give his all for the sold-out crowd of hockey fans and country music fans alike. This one is taking place on Monday, February 22nd at Joe’s on Weed St., so if you have your tickets you’ll surely be treated to a great night for a great cause.
Dirt Nasty & Mickey Avalon @ The Bottom Lounge (2/26)
Last but not least is probably the most unique concert on our list. Taking stage at the Bottom Lounge on February 26th, actor/rapper Simon Rex (“Dirt Nasty”) and ‘Jane Fonda’ rapper Mickey Avalon have squashed their beef and will make a stop in Chicago on their new Married to the Game tour. The two are more than entertaining, Dirt’s raps are absolutely hilarious, their song ‘My Dick’ is a 10 out of 10, and together the two make a great team. Tickets are still available so don’t miss out!
Minutes ago Vic Mensa shared his new Papa Beatz produced record ‘Danger’, which Mensa originally previewed for fans at Kanye West’s The Life of Pablo album streaming event at Madison Square Garden. While the track is fire, it will surely get a lot of attention due to lyrics aimed directly at the 6 God himself, Drake. In ‘Danger’ Mensa raps,
“I don’t like the way that n*ggas talkin’ like they bulletproof, till they gotta find out what a bullet do. Catch 2 in ya Canada Goose, it’ll turn a n*gga into proof.”
Referencing Drake’s collaboration with the brand Canada Goose, Mensa sent some pretty obvious subliminals Drake’s way, essentially warning Drake that he’ll catch a bullet if he keeps acting the way he does. It will certainly be interesting to see if Drake decides to respond, but if so, don’t expect Vic to catch as many Ls as Meek Mill.
After the close of Kanye’s huge fashion show/album streaming event yesterday at New York City’s Madison Square Garden, many were expecting that the album would officially release publicly, whether via iTunes, TIDAL, SoundCloud, anything… However fans were soon disappointed as hours went by and nothing. Fans again got anxious this morning as Kanye released a new GOOD Friday record via SoundCloud, leading many to believe that the album would not soon be released.
However Kanye West fans are really eating today as minutes ago Kanye announced that his next LP, The Life of Pablo, is currently being mastered and will release later today. If TLOP and a new GOOD Friday track weren’t enough, Kanye has even added a couple new tracks to his album’s final tracklist, which now comes in at 17-tracks long.
Check out The Life of Pablo’s final tracklist and stream Kanye’s new GOOD Friday track ’30 Hours’ below.
UPDATE: Kanye has now announced that his album The Life of Pablo is being mastered and will be out today (with a couple news tracks as well)!
Following his huge Madison Square Garden album listening party slash Yeezy Season 3 fashion show, Kanye has released a brand new track via SoundCloud. Although it is still uncertain when his anticipated LP, The Life of Pablo, will release officially, Kanye’s new track ’30 Hours’ is another new G.O.O.D. Friday record. “Now that the album is finally finished it’s back to Good Fridays,” Kanye wrote to fans on Twitter.
While the new record is certainly another quality record that Kanye has officially released this year, it definitely makes fans anxious that The Life of Pablo won’t release today, or perhaps in the immediate future. Many fans anticipated that the album would have released yesterday, soon before or after Kanye’s MSG event, however such was not the case. We won’t complain about new music though, so definitely enjoy the record!
Kanye West hasn’t even formally released his new album, The Life of Pablo, yet and already it’s causing controversy. During his live album release party slash Yeezy Season 3 fashion show at Madison Square Garden today, one of Kanye’s new tracks contained a “jab” at Taylor Swift. You know, the same Taylor Swift who Kanye stole the mic from at the VMAs….
Kanye raps, “I feel like me and Taylor still might have sex, I made that bitch famous.” Whoh, Kanye!
But before you grab your pitchforks, and let Kanye totally have it, which on the surface seems very easy to do this time, you’ll be surprised to learn that Kanye actually gave T-Swift a heads up on the lyric. According to TMZ, a source close to Swift says that Kanye called her personally, months ago, to tell her about the song and reference in advance. So although she may not have totally co-signed the lyric, let’s all lighten up and all wait until TLOP officially released (and hopefully soon).
Last night Lana Del Rey premiered her new music video at The Wiltern in Los Angeles, and while most music videos don’t warrant their own release event, Lana’s videos aren’t “most music videos”. This time releasing visuals for her 2015 track, ‘Freak’, from her Honeymoon album, Lana Del Rey’s new music video co-stars Lana’s close friend and rocker, Father John Misty, and everything you wouldn’t expect and everything you would expect from Lana all at the same time.
The new music video certainly shares images and a general feel from some of Lana’s previous vintage-themed videos, but this new one totals over 10-minutes long. And while we won’t try to give away too much, the last half of the video is full of a weird (in the best way possible) underwater piano-laced slow-motion sequence of Lana swimming. You definitely need to check it out for yourself.
