Six Degrees: Lil Dicky to Drake

BY DAN GARCIA

Lil Dicky

Here at The Early Registration we like to pride ourselves on our music knowledge, to stay polished on our musical expertise our new feature is a little game of musical “6 Degrees”. For those who are unfamiliar, six degrees of separation is the theory that everyone in the world is connected by six or fewer steps, so we are now taking the liberty of connecting musicians by songs and features, who you would never think could be connected. This week our  piece is in anticipation of comedic rapper Lil Dicky’s upcoming Spring 2015 Professional Rapper Tourwhich kicks off next month in California.  For those who don’t know, Lil Dicky has received quite the buzz after his ‘Lemme Freak‘ video (one of our favorite videos of 2014), and through his raps LD is on pursuit to become the next LD (Larry David of course). And who better to connect Dicky to than his favorite rapper and fellow non-gentile, Drake? This may be a little hard as Dicky has only been rapping ‘professionally’ for about a year, but we’re up for the challenge.

During his visit to Power 105.1′s “The Breakfast Club” this morning, Kanye West revealed to Charlamagne and friends the inspiration behind his Vic Mensa and Sia track ‘Wolves‘. “The Wolves song came from a conversation that me and Drake had, when we was gonna to do an album together. And the album was called Wolves,” said Kanye. Kanye also revealed that he hoped that revealing the inspiration would help the album actually happen. Wow! Although it appeared that the song may have been scraped, it now seems as Kanye West’s anticipated track ‘All Day’ is still coming out. Earlier today Kanye paid a visit to The Breakfast Club and told Charlamagne, DJ Envy and Angela Yee that he was working (that day) on the track, with Vic Mensa and Q-Tip. Also today, Vic Mensa tweeted about the track. Originally, in his interview with GQ, Ye told fans that ‘All Day’ would be the first single from his forthcoming album. However, so far we have only heard a rough draft of the track that leaked. It may be a blessing though that it hasn’t came out yet, since now Vic Mensa is contributing to the final cut of the song.

Ralph Lauren took to their Twitter to post a backstage photograph of Kanye West meeting the American fashion God that is Ralph Lauren. The two met each other backstage at a runway show during New York Fashion Week this morning and Kanye looks like a kid on Christmas morning. If you don’t know just how much Kanye idolizes Ralph, you might need to re-watch Kanye’s infamous “It ain’t no Ralph tho” interview with Sway (also below). The respect is mutual though as Lauren made comments, during his Style.com interview, on Kanye’s “it ain’t Ralph tho” moment. “That’s very cool. Well, that’s great. If I were to cater to Kanye, he would know that I’m catering to him. The fact that I make what I make—he gets it. He gets the quality and he respects it. And I think that’s the key, why I work all the time is to do that. That’s the fun.” Check out the photo of the two below.
