In the past month, Milwaukee’s WebsterXhas been dropping local hints around the city, before the reveal of his big announcement with fellow New Age Narcissism member, Q the Sun. After his #whoiskidx art campaign, WebsterX announced that he and Q the Sun were releasing a new 3-track EP, titled KidX, inspired by Radiohead’s 2000 album KidA. While some fans got to hear the project early this past weekend at the “KidX Listening Disco”, today marks the official release of the project, as well as it’s debut on Noisey. This is the first project that WebsterX has attached his name to since his notoriety has consistently risen through his ‘doomsday’ and ‘Latley’ visuals, as well as his big collaboration with the Kanye West-affiliated, Allan Kingdom.
Milwaukee’s own, rapper WebsterX, is having a hell of a year. After the success of the visuals for his ‘doomsday’ record (WebsterX’s big introduction to many), the face of Milwaukee’s New Age Narcissism collective has knocked out big festival performances at Summer Set and Summerfest, opened for artists like Lupe Fiasco and Earl Sweatshirt, received a huge nomination at the Milwaukee Film Festival, and now to follow his latest single ‘Lately’, WebsterX has recruited a big feature for his new track ‘Kinfolk’, with thestand4rd’s Allan Kingdom. The record is produced by Chicago producer BoatHouse and is WebsterX’s biggest collaboration yet, teaming up with the Kanye West affiliated rapper.
Last night, New Age Narcissism celebrated their Milwaukee Film Festival nominations of two of its talented and emerging artists, rapper WebsterX and singer Lex Allen. WebsterX received recognition over his amazing visuals (directed by Cody LaPlant & Damien Klaven) for his record‘doomsday’, while Lex received a nomination for his music video (directed by Cody LaPlant& Damien Gram), ‘This Is Our Year’ ft. Lorde Fredd33. New Age Narcissism, which consists of WebsterX, Lex Allen, Siren, Lorde Fredd33 and more, showed their fans at Hotel Foster last night why Milwaukee is experiencing a new wave of talented artists in the city right now.

Listen as Ju recruits Milwaukee’s WebsterX for his new single, ‘BURGUNDY’. The record is produced by Jae Genius and you can find it on Ju’s forthcoming project, THE CAGE EP, (released date TBD). The two work great on the track together, as it showcases the growing talent from both of the MCs. WebsterX is Milwaukee’s biggest emerging name in a long time, and as the ‘Latley’ rapper continues to land features and gigs, his notoriety in the rap game is only going to skyrocket.
These are the highlights of this past week in music! Hopefully you can bump these tracks on your way to work to brighten up your Monday mornings, and to stay up-to-date on today’s music. This week we have another new collaboration from Chance The Rapper and Noname Gypsy, new amazing visuals from Milwaukee’s WebsterX, and a new music video from the Childish Gambino co-signed Kari Faux.
Earlier today, Milwaukee rapper WebsterX premiered his new music video, for his Mic Kellogg produced record ‘Lately’, on Complex. Speaking on the track, WebsterX told fans “a lot has happened since I released ‘doomsday’, a lot has occurred in the last couple of months and this is a gift from myself to you.” Like with his ‘doomsday’ visuals, WebsterX again teamed up with the talented Cody LaPlant & Damien Klaven for the video’s direction, and again the video is amazing!
Last night, singer Charles Bradley and his Extraordinaires performed an amazing set at the Subterranean in Chicago, IL. With an energetic opening set from Milwaukee rapper WebsterX, Windy City fans definitely got their money’s worth. WebsterX performed a number of tracks, including his fan favorite ‘doomsday’, and Bradley kept fans entertained with performances from his Victim of Love and No Time For Dreaming records. If you weren’t in Chicago last night, Bradley will be touring the world this summer, while Midwest fans can catch WebsterX at this year’s Summer Set Music & Camping Festival (enter our ticket giveaway here).

Milwaukee’sSummerfest 2015, the World’s Largest Music Festival, only has a couple days left and so far it has definitely delivered. Unlike many other premiere music festivals, Summerfest (which runs until July 5th) brings an especially diverse list of performers to Milwaukee’s lakefront every year, creating for a festival where you can see Kanye West (who performed in 2011) share the same stage as Peter Gabriel and Kid Rock. So to get things started for The Early Registration’s first year at Summerfest, we had to catch a wide variety of acts all festival long.
