BY TER STAFF

After the announcement that Miami rapper Pitbull would be the last announced Marcus Amphitheatre headliner for this year’s Summerfest in Milwaukee, many expected that the festival’s final cast of headliners was set in stone. However, to fan’s pleasant surprise today, Summerfest has released it’s official 2016 schedule and with it added some big names! And while one Summerfest’s slight weaknesses in its lineup this year was its light hip-hop presence, the lakefront festival not only added Milwaukee hip-hop collective New Age Narcissism (led by rapper WebsterX), but legendary rapper Common will be returning to Summerfest this year.

Also joining Common on the list of new acts are Moon Taxi, GGOOLLDD, Mayer Hawthorne, Gin Blossoms and more! With the new list of performers, we can’t remember the last time that we’ve been this excited for Summerfest. Get your tickets to Summerfest now and check out the official schedule here.

Summerfest will take place from June 29th to July 3rd and July 5th to the 10th, with general admission tickets starting at only $13!

Milwaukee artist WebsterX is everything you need on your iPod right now (people still use iPods, right?). After blowing everyone away with the production of his music video for ‘doomsday’, the Wisconsin rapper has hit the ground running. From opening for Lupe Fiasco at Milwaukee’s Summerfest, to getting a ton of co-signs by some major blogs, WebsterX is probably his most talented when it comes to putting together some amazing visuals for his best records.

Today WebsterX dropped his music video for ‘Everything’, a Q the Sun produced song of their recent KidX EP. Directed by Cody Laplant & Damien Blue, who produced a number of WebsterX’s previous music videos, the video for ‘Everything’ is easily one of the best of the year. This one isn’t just a music video though, it’s a movie.

Let the video talk for itself. Check out WebsterX’s visuals for ‘Everything’ below.

Milwaukee singer Lex Allen is easily one of the most exciting artists out of Chicago’s sister to the North. With an amazing and beautiful voice, that can be best paralleled to that of John Legend, but with a complete style of his own, Allen is not only immensely talented but the bravery he shows through the sexuality in his music, while crossing genres with a historically unaccepting style of music, is without a doubt unmatched even in 2016. His raw talent mixed with his honesty makes him one our favorite artists to watch in the new year.

Allen’s new record is no exception to all the things that make him great. ‘Cream and Sugar’, which is produced by Q the Sun and assisted by a verse from the equally talented Milwaukee artist Webster X, is a catchy track that is sure to get you to sing along. With visuals directed by Cody LaPlant, the track and music video together demonstrate the vast creativity from New Age Narcissism, a Milwaukee collective with three of its members on this record alone (Allen, Webster X, Q the Sun).

Watch and listen to Lex Allen’s new music video and record ‘Cream and Sugar’ below.

Milwaukee is currently experiencing a new wave of talented musicians and artists throughout the city, one that Chicago’s little brother to the North has not seen in quite some time. Of the most talented artists emerging out of Milwaukee right now is New Age Narcissism, a collective comprised of rapper WebsterX, singers Lex Allen and Siren and more. Recently Milwaukee’s 88Nine Radio invited NAN’s Lex Allen and Siren to a local recording studio to lay down their own reinterpretations of two big records from The Weeknd. Covering Abel’s ‘Earned It’, from The Weeknd’s latest LP and the “Fifty Shades of Grey” soundtrack, Lex Allen performed a James Bond inspired rendition of the Beauty Behind The Madness track. And deciding to take a darker spin on the otherwise upbeat and poppy ‘Can’t Feel My Face’, Siren covered the song of the summer and Weeknd’s biggest single to date.

Watch Lex Allen’s rendition of ‘Earned It’ by The Weeknd below, as well as Siren’s ‘Can’t Feel My Face’ cover.

In the past month, Milwaukee’s WebsterX has been dropping local hints around the city, before the reveal of his big announcement with fellow New Age Narcissism member, Q the Sun. After his #whoiskidx art campaign, WebsterX announced that he and Q the Sun were releasing a new 3-track EP, titled KidX, inspired by Radiohead’s 2000 album KidA. While some fans got to hear the project early this past weekend at the “KidX Listening Disco”, today marks the official release of the project, as well as it’s debut on Noisey. This is the first project that WebsterX has attached his name to since his notoriety has consistently risen through his ‘doomsday’ and ‘Latley’ visuals, as well as his big collaboration with the Kanye West-affiliated, Allan Kingdom.
