Saturday night was a BIG night in Chicago at the United Center with the return of WGCI’s annual Big Jam. After taking a year off due to the pandemic, fans instantly sold out the city’s biggest venue for a memorable night of live music.

From some of the night’s early performers like Phor, Queen Key and surprise performances from Crucial Conflict, Twista and Shawnna, to the big closers like Moneybagg Yo, City Girls, Lil Baby and Lil Durk, the night was great from start to finish. The evening was also full of memorable moments, including Lil Durk getting on one knee to propose to India Royal (spoiler alert: she said yes).

Chicago’s Fake Shore Drive celebrated 10 years of helping break some of the biggest names in Chicago music last night with it’s huge anniversary concert at the Portage Theater, for part of Red Bull Sound Select‘s “30 Days In Chicago” series. And what better way to celebrate than boasting performances from some of the best rappers Chicago has to offer, and a huge reunion performance from the legendary hip-hop duo, the Big Tymers.

With a price of admission of only $15, Fake Shore Drive and Red Bull Sound Select gave fans their money’s worth just moments after doors opened, as the night was kicked off with performances and appearances from The Cool Kids, Twista, GLC, King Louie, G Herbo and many more.

But although Chicago kicked off the night, it was Detroit and Cash Money Records which brought the memorable evening to a close. ‘First Day Out’ rapper Tee Grizzley put on a great performance, bringing Detroit to the Windy City and setting the stage for Birdman and Mannie Fresh to put on an unforgettable show, and one of their rare and only performances in the past decade, rapping some Big Tymers classics like ‘Still Fly’, ‘Get Your Roll On’ and more.

Check out our photos from last night’s performance below.

Gray (Hakeem from Empire), Omarion, Rae Sremmurd, Meek Mill, Future and Kendrick Lamar. The night was full of dancing, surprises, and most importantly some great live music! From seeing records like ‘Feel That’, ‘Overnight Celebrity’ and ‘No Type’ performed live, to watching Future and Kendrick kill their headlining sets, the Big Jam will certainly have trouble topping itself in 2016.

Yesterday the first (“but not last”) AAHH Fest! was held in Chicago’s Union Park. The hip-hop festival, pun intended, was certainly a breath of fresh air to showcase Chicago’s role in rap and hip-hop, and much more. Thanks to Chicago’s own, rapper Common, and in partnership with Donda’s House the Common Ground Foundation and the Lupe Fiasco Foundation, concert goers saw performances by Common, Lupe Fiasco, Twista, Jay Electronica, Jennifer Hudson, De La Soul, MC Lyte, many local performers who performed in the event’s early show, and a number of surprises performances from SZA, Lil Mama, Vince Staples, and of course Mr. Kanye West.
