Singer/rapper D.R.A.M., most famously known for his record ‘Cha Cha’, is currently on a huge tour with Chicago’s Chance The Rapper. But don’t think a big tour is going to stop him from putting out new music, as today he released his new record, titled ‘Caretaker (Extended)’. Featuring TDE singer, SZA, this collaboration is a extended version from Donnie Trumpet and The Social Experiment’s album Surf and it is awesome! You’ll be able to find this one on D.R.A.M.’s forthcoming EP GAHDAMN!, which drops in just a few days on October 23rd.
Stream ‘Caretaker (Extended)’ below and peep our photos of D.R.A.M. and Chance’s Milwaukee stop on their Family Matters tour.
One of our favorite things about Lollapalooza is its aftershows. The aftershows not only allow fans who weren’t able to score wristbands to the actual festival to also see some great sets, but it showcases the beautiful intimate local venues (Aragon, The Mid, The Riviera and more) of our nation’s Second City, Chicago. This year’s Lollapalooza Aftershows are just as great as ever, with a number of performances that we recommend catching. Performing official Lollapalooza Aftershows this year are Alesso, Tove Lo, Gary Clark Jr., The War on Drugs, Glass Animals, alt-J, SZA, Mick Jenkins, Marina and the Diamonds, Logic and many more!
Last night singer Jhene Aiko performed at Chicago’s legendary House of Blues, accompanied by Odd Future‘s The Internet and TDE‘s SZA as part of her Enter The Void Tour. Jhene performed a beautiful set for the sold-out crowd, closed by her Sail Out single ‘The Worst’. Coming off a recent Grammy nomination for her debut album Souled Out, Jhene is definitely having one of the best years in R&B. Check out our photos below!
Ferg’s long awaited debut solo mixtape is finally here. The Gangsta Grillz project contains 19 tracks and is hosted by DJ Drama. Big Sean, SZA, YG, Twista, M.I.A., Crystal Caines, and more are featured on the tape and production comes Big K.R.I.T., Clams Casino, and more!
Top Dawg Entertainment‘s SZA shares her new track ‘Sobriety’ which features a slew of producers (Chris Calor, Cody, Thundercat, LoveDragon, and Sounwave). In the track SZA beautifully sings about breakups and how they put her sobriety under question, showing that TDE is about much more than just West Coast rap. You can catch her on tour with The Internet for Jhene Aiko’s upcoming Enter The Void tour this December.
Top Dawg Entertainment singer SZA and half of the legendary Outkast, rapper Big Boi, were the studio together. No word yet on what music will come from this, but this would definitely make for a great collaboration. Let’s keep our fingers crossed.
Yesterday the first (“but not last”) AAHH Fest! was held in Chicago’s Union Park. The hip-hop festival, pun intended, was certainly a breath of fresh air to showcase Chicago’s role in rap and hip-hop, and much more. Thanks to Chicago’s own, rapper Common, and in partnership with Donda’s House the Common Ground Foundation and the Lupe Fiasco Foundation, concert goers saw performances by Common, Lupe Fiasco, Twista, Jay Electronica, Jennifer Hudson, De La Soul, MC Lyte, many local performers who performed in the event’s early show, and a number of surprises performances from SZA, Lil Mama, Vince Staples, and of course Mr. Kanye West.
