Soon after one of the biggest snubs of the 57th Annual Grammy Nominations, as Lana Del Rey’s album Ultraviolence received no nominations, Lana today received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Original Song for a Motion Picture for her track ‘Big Eyes’ used in the Tim Burton film of the same name. Also receiving nominations in the category include John Legend, Patti Smith, Greg Kurstin, and Lorde for her ‘Yellow Flicker Beat’ track used in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1. Earlier today the nominations were announced for the 57th Annual Grammy Awards. As with many years, there were noticeable snubs that left critics and fans scratching their heads. While many used to praise the Grammys for their ability to reward quality music versus music that merely sells well, in recent years the committee’s selections seem especially poor (especially in the category of rap).
