Check out Eminem’s new song, as heard in the trailer for the upcoming boxing drama “Southpaw”. “Southpaw” stars Jake Gyllenhaal and is directed by the acclaimed Antoine Fuqua (“Training Day”). And if the full version of this track is anything like Em’s previous soundtrack contributions, it will certainly be worth checking out when the entire song drops. You can catch “Southpaw” in theaters July 31, 2015.
During intermission of the Chicago Blackhawks game against the Columbus Blue Jackets, Chicago’s own, Chance The Rapper tested his hockey skills from center ice at the United Center. Unfortunately for Chance though, his accuracy could use some work, as he went 0 for 3. Luckily he put his eggs in the music basket and not in being the NHL’s next Patrick Kane.

Rapper Lil Durk’s manager, 24-year-old Uchenna Agina (“OTF Chino Dolla”), was shot and killed early this morning in Chicago’s South Side. Agina was sitting in a car on the 8400 block of South Stony Island when someone walked up and opened fire, theChicago Sun Times reports. Agina was rushed to the hospital by a friend, but was soon pronounced dead at 2:04 AM, authorities said. No suspects are in custody. This is another tough loss for drill rapper Lil Durk, and another unfortunate example of Chicago being the murder capital of the world.
“Keep my name out of your nasty mouth” Skepta tells listeners in his new track ‘Nasty’, a reminder to English rapper Devilman (who has held a grudge ever since Devilman lost a battle to Skepta in 2013). No subliminals here, Skepta calls out Devilman for shit bars, snitching, stealing lines, being a sex offender and more. Either way, the rapper who got a recent shout-out from Kanye West has had quite a buzz of late and ‘Nasty’ is just another example of the British MC’s bars. The beat is nasty as well (pun intended of course).

In a new interview with Billboard, singer Mike Posner helped answer the question of “what happened to Mike Posner’s sophomore album?” For the past few years fans have awaited and anticipated Mike Posner’s sophomore efforts. First came talks of Mike’s sophomore album Sky High, then momentum shifted towards the release of Pages, another sophomore album from the ‘Cooler Than Me’ singer. “I could probably put out Sky High and Pages, but that music is no longer current to me”, Mike told Billboard. “It’s no longer true to me. It’s true to who I was then, but the music I’m writing now is true to who I am now, and I wanted to make a new, third album. And hopefully this one comes out.”
Who would have guessed that Childish Gambino affiliate, rapper Kari Faux could sing? You may best know her from Gambino’s STN MTN / Kauai track ‘No Small Talk’ (a remix of Faux’s ‘Gahdamn’ record) but soon she may be known for her singing as well. Earlier today on Twitter, Faux release a demo version of a track titled ‘eden’, which showcases her singing abilities. According to Kari though, she will only keep the track up for 24 hours, so check it out while you still can.
This month music fans were blessed by new albums from Action Bronson (Mr. Wonderful) and Earl Sweatshirt (I Don’t Like S***, I Don’t Go Outside), which were both great quality albums. Now today we have a track featuring both of them. The new record, titled ‘Warlord Leather’, not only features Earl and Action, but is also produced by The Alchemist. Needless to say, this is not a track you want to sleep on.
We said it yesterday and we will say it again, no one person is better at their job than Canadian journalist, Nardwuar the Human Serviette. After a Grade-A interview with the always entertaining ‘No Type’ rappers Rae Sremmurd, today we have another new interview from Nardwuar. This time Nardwuar has some gifts and obscure (but amazingly researched) questions for Atlanta’s premiere rap trio, Migos.
