A couple days ago we broke the news about J. Cole’s new album 2014 Forest Hills Drive. Then came the trailer for the rapper’s junior release. Now J. Cole is giving fans the chance to come to his childhood home (where the album get its name) to listen to the new album. 2014 Forest Hills Drive will not have any single so be sure to stay updated on its December 9th release.
With seven albums in just eight years, Rick Ross has another banger in his catalog with Hood Billionaire. Released through Def Jam, Slip-n-Slide Records, and his label Maybach Music Group, Hood Billionaire doesn’t reinvent the wheel or show us anything that we haven’t seen from Ross since his debut in 2006, but he certainly isn’t slacking. If you love Rick Ross than you will love this album. If you haven’t been a fan in the past however, don’t expect Hood Billionaire to win you over. Just because Ross has changed on the outside (having lost over 100 lbs.), he hasn’t changed on the inside, musically at least. Depending on who you are, Hood Billionaire either brilliantly sticks with a theme and a certain sound or it is too repetitive and everything sounds the same (it is all about perception for this one). Fortunately for myself however, I can always go for some more music from the “Teflon Don”.
In a recent interview, singer Faith Evans (former wife of legendary rapper the Notorious B.I.G.) revealed that she is working on a duet album with unheard recordings from her late husband.
Earlier in the month, Jaden Smith continued his spree of dropping new music by the release of hisPrakrutiEP. The only bad thing to say about the project is that we desperately wanted more. Well now we have more, as Jaden just released his newest mixtape. This one is titled CTV2 (Cool Tape Vol. 2), features vocals from his sister Willow, and definitely do not expect it to disappoint. The tape is available through his Jaden Experience application on the iOS App Store.
It is hard to believe that the rapper who brought you ‘Husltin’ is on his 7th studio album and now Ross’ newest album Hood Billionaire is available to fans for streaming. The album, released through Ross’ label Maybach Music and Def Jam, has 16-tracks and features the likes of Jay-Z, Snoop Dogg, Big K.R.I.T. and more.
Late last night we were the first to deliver the news about J. Cole’s upcoming album, titled 2014 Forest Hills Drive, already scheduled to drop next month (December 9th). Now we have the official 7-minute trailer for the project which took us all by surprise.
Watsky, known best for his raps made famous on the internet and his spoken word poetry, is much more than a rapper/poet. A man who constantly pushes his own limits due to his fear of being pigeon-holed, George Watsky is an artist who cannot be put into just one category. Watsky and I sat down shortly before his performance for a sold out crowd at The Metro in Chicago to talk about a number of different topics, from fellow Bay Area rapper Lil B to more deep topics within the music and entertainment world, specifically his views on the price of music (which has been a hot topic in music for the past month).
Last night we went to Watsky’s All You Can Do Tour featuring Kyle and Anderson Paak. Performing for a sold out crowd at The Metro in Chicago, fans were treated to three great energy filled sets. Before the show we spoke with Kyle (‘Keep It Real’ ‘Don’t Want To Fall In Love‘) as he met his Chicago fans, telling us about he was humbled by Childish Gambino reaching out and including Kyle’s track ‘Fruit Snacks’ in Gambino’s short film, Clapping For The Wrong Reasons. Next, before he stepped on stage, we sat down with Watsky for an interview about his thoughts on the price of music, his video for ‘Whoa Whoa Whoa‘, and even Lil B the Based God (coming soon).
