While walking the red carpet for the 73rd annual Golden Globe award, Wiz Khalifa dropped some major news about his forthcoming album, Khalifa. According to the man himself, who was nominated tonight for his Charlie Puth collaboration ‘See You Again’ (the first ever Golden Globe nom for the “Fast & Furious” franchise), his new album will release this month on January 22nd. Khalifia will be the follow up to Wiz’s Blacc Hollywood album, and another release from his Taylor Gang label.

Is it December yet? Not that we miss the cold weather, but we definitely miss making Year-End Lists! So in anticipation of our future and complete best verses of 2015 list, we had one of our writers make up a list of his 10 favorite verses of 2015 (so far). Remember, it’s just one writer that’s getting our future list started, and spoiler alert there is no Kendrick Lamar on our first draft. Either way, it goes to show how good 2015 has been so far, and with some of the year’s most anticipated albums still to come (i.e. So Help Me God), we can’t even imagine what our list will look like come December!

There was a lot of uncertainty as to who would take home the award for the “Best Rap Album” at the 57th Annual Grammy Awards today, especially since the disappointment in the rap community when white rapper Macklemore beat out Kendrick Lamar and Kanye West’s critically acclaimed albums. Would it be the talented veteran Eminem (who has won a number of Grammys in the past)? Would it be Iggy Azalea (who like Macklemore, is white and considered more pop than rap by many)? Or would it be one of the Grammy’s newcomers, like Childish Gambino’s Because the Internet or SchoolBoy Q’s Oxymoron. Well now we know, as this year Eminem’s album Marshall Mathers LP 2 took home the Grammy.
For years, there has been a battle between popular New York radio stations Hot 97 and Power 105, as they battle for the top spot in ratings and relevancy. This has only been heightened by the exposure given through social media. Now, the interviews held by The Breakfast Club and the personalities on Ebro in the Morning are not only available for New Yorkers on their way to work, but everyone with access to YouTube. Specifically, Charlamagne Tha God and Peter Rosenberg have been bumping heads a lot lately. Let’s get into what’s been going on.
One of the highlights of the annual BET Awards is the cyphers, which have featured some of your favorite rappers from Kanye West and Big Sean to Chance the Rapper, Kendrick Lamar, and even the ‘Based God’ Lil B. Today BETreleased the cypher lineup for the 2014 BET Hip-Hop Awards on October 14.
Over the weekend, Wiz Khalifa’s “Under the Influence of Music” tour rolled through Northern California. At Friday’s show at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, 38-year-old local Eric Johnson was shot backstage, dying from injuries the following morning. Since the incident, Young Jeezy has been arrested by local authorities with bail set at $1 million dollars.
