In a new interview with MTV, G.O.O.D. Music rapper Travis Scott covered a number of topics including his Rodeo Tour, working with Kanye West and Drake, Kid Cudi, his comments about J. Cole and Chance the Rapper, and his forthcoming debut album. Speaking on his Rodeo Tour and when he told fans to get hype, reminding them that his show isn’t a J. Cole or Chance the Rapper concert, Travis told MTV that there was no disrespect meant towards either but his show is different and like a “real life circus”.

And fans who have caught the circus can get excited for La Flame’s upcoming debut album, Rodeo. Scott specifically took time to talk about the unique release method of his upcoming album (and no it won’t be a “surprise album”), “the way I’m dropping the album this year, is different than others.” He said though that he won’t drop his album until there is a Kid Cudi collaboration (the two have been in the studio together though). Another treat from the interview, speaking on Kanye West’s new album, is that ‘All Day’ is nowhere near the hardest banger on the album. So get excited for Ye’s new album, Mr. Solo Dolo meets La Flame, and check out the full interview below.

J. Cole Changes His “Fire Squad” Lyrics Towards Iggy Azalea During Forest Hills Drive Tour

Currently on his Forest Hills Drive Tour, in promotion of his latest album 2014 Forest Hills Drive, J. Cole has changed the lyrics to one of the album’s stand out tracks, ‘Fire Squad’. In the track, speaking on the white takeover of hip-hop, Cole originally raps:

“Same thing that my n*gga Elvis did with Rock n Roll, Justin Timberlake, Eminem, and Macklemore. While silly n*ggas argue over who gon’ snatch the crown. Look around, my n*gga, white people have snatched the sound. This year I’ll prolly go to the awards dappered down, watch Iggy (Azalea) win a Grammy as I try to crack a smile.”

Updating the lyrics for his live performance, Cole now spits “This year I’ll prolly go to the awards dappered down, watch Iggy lose a Grammy as n*gga cracks a smile.” A small change and not much more of a shot at Iggy than the lyric already was, but Cole has to keep his raps current, right? And don’t forget Eminem (who Cole also accuses of stealing black peoples’ sound) still did win the Grammy this year (better than Iggy though). Watch a video of Cole’s ‘Fire Squad’ performance below, and see the crowd get hyped over the lyric switch. Also be sure to catch J. Cole on tour all this spring and summer.

In his recent feature with GQ, Chicago’s Chance the Rapper spilled some awesome details about his debut LP. When speaking about Chance’s debut LP’s guest features, GQ’s Byard Duncan writes “His subsequent guest appearances—nasally breathless, startlingly precocious—gained the attention of artists like Frank Ocean, J. Cole, and André 3000, all of whom will appear on his yet to be named debut LP.” If we weren’t already, this definitely has us hype for Chance’s debut album, especially since his last mixtape Acid Rap was critically acclaimed and an excellent follow-up to his 10 Day project.

2014 Man of the Year: J. Cole

Sometimes an MVP is decide almost solely based on how they finish the season. Such is the case for 2014 and our Man of the Year, J. Cole. In what may have otherwise not been possible, thanks to a lackluster year in rap, J. Cole single handed saved rap music from having a disastrous 2014 and he did in just one month’s time and virtually out of nowhere. This is not to say that rappers like Big Sean, Childish Gambino, Run the Jewels and several others didn’t have a great past 12-months, but Hollywood Cole is the real MVP.
