Listen Big Sean’s remix and verse of Drake’s If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late track ‘Used To’. Like always, Big Sean comes hard when he hops on a track, and this time is no exception. No word as to whether Big Sean was originally supposed to appear on the song, or if he just felt inspired and compelled to hop on himself, but the verse is hot either way. Check out the remix below and be on the lookout soon for Big Sean’s forthcoming Dark Sky Paradise album.
Drake almost broke the internet Thursday when he “pulled a Beyonce” and dropped a surprise album, titled If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late. The first question though, is this even an album? Is it a mixtape? Well, it really isn’t that black and white. When you think of a mixtape, you think of a lower quality project which is less cohesive and most importantly released for free. When you think of an album you think of completely original beats, more strategic album packaging and covers, and usually for sale on iTunes, as well as stores. If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late falls somewhere in the middle. While the beats are original (as opposed to Lil Wayne’s Sorry 4 The Wait projects), the album sounds more like a mixtape than an album. Also too, fans were led to believe that Drake’s “upcoming album” was Views From The 6 (which still is expected to release this year). The album art also appears to be more of a mixtape cover than an album cover. However, even though the project was also released for free streaming on Soundcloud,IYRTITLwas released for sale on iTunes. So which is it? Again, it’s still not clear.
Drake’s new surprise album If You’re Reading This It’s Too Lateis full of disses to his fellow labelmates. In his track ‘No Tellin”, Drake throws shade at his new OVO Sound artist iLoveMakonnen and in the album’s closing track ‘6PM in New York’ Drake takes shots at fellow Young Money/Cash Money (YMCMB) rapper Tyga. In the track, Drake raps “I heard the lil lil homie talking reckless in Vibe. It’s quite a platform you chose, you should have kept it inside. Oh you tried, it’s so childish calling my name on the world’s stage. You need to act your age and not your girl’s age.” Referencing Tyga’s interview with Vibe where he revealed that he didn’t like Drake, Drake takes a jab at Tyga and his relationship with his 17 year-old girlfriend Kylie Jenner. No mercy from Drizzy on these records!
“F*ck it, all you n*ggas two faced, got the club goin’ up on a Tuesday”, raps Drake on his new If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late track ‘No Tellin’. Of course, Drizzy is certainly referencing his iLoveMakonnen track ‘Tuesday’, but is he throwing shots at his own artist? After hearing Makonnen’s track ‘Club Goin’ Up on a Tuesday’, Drake teamed up with the young artist for the remix ‘Tuesday’, and later signed the Atlanta rapper. Fast forward a few months later, and now it seems like Drake may be calling Makonnen two faced.
If you somehow didn’t hear, Drake just pulled a Beyonce and released a surprise album on iTunes. While Beyonce’s release was certainly game changing, Drake’s just might have a much more interesting back story. With this surprise release of Drake’s fourth studio album, If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late, is Drizzy now out of his contract with Cash Money Records?
We were optimistic just hours ago that Drake was releasing a brand new mixtape tonight, well now it looks like he one-upped even our best predictions as Drizzy has just released a surprise album on iTunes. The album, titled If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late (possible shot at angry label heads?) is available now and has features from Lil Wayne, Partynextdoor, and Travis Scott and production from 40, Boi-1da, Vinlyz, Partynextdoor and more! Check out the tracklist below.
According to famous American deejay DJ Skee, and hints from Drake’s Instagram, Drake is dropping a brand new mixtape for fans tonight. After dropping his new short film “Jungle” earlier today, it really seems like Drizzy season is here. Check out the evidence below!
It has been awhile since we have got new news from Drake. Although ‘0-100’ was Grammy nominated and the song of the summer in 2014, the year was still relatively quite for Drizzy. Well good news for Drake fans, as today the OVO rapper took to his Twitter, to share a new short film, titled “Jungle”. Watch the Karim Huu Do directed 14-minute short film, full of footage from Drake’s come up and even some snippets of new music, below.
Here at The Early Registration we like to pride ourselves on our music knowledge, to stay polished on our musical expertise our new feature is a little game of musical “6 Degrees”. For those who are unfamiliar, six degrees of separation is the theory that everyone in the world is connected by six or fewer steps, so we are now taking the liberty of connecting musicians by songs and features, who you would never think could be connected. This week our 6˚ piece is in honor of the upcoming 57th Annual Grammy Awards, where we will connect the two most opposite nominees for this year’s “Best Rap Performance” category, Christian rapper Lecrae and of course the always controversial Eminem. To spice things up, we will also include the other rappers in the category (Childish Gambino, Drake, Kendrick Lamar), all in just six steps.
