Here at The Early Registration we like to pride ourselves on our music knowledge. To stay polished on our musical expertise, our new feature is a little game of musical “6 Degrees”. For those who are unfamiliar, six degrees of separation is the theory that everyone in the world is connected by six or fewer steps, so we are now taking the liberty of connecting musicians whom you would never think could be connected, in exactly six steps. This week our  piece is dedicated to Lollapalooza amazing lineup, which is coming to Chicago in just a couple of weeks. To keep things interesting we challenged ourself to connect one Lollapalooza headliner (Sam Smith) to another Lollapalooza headliner (Paul McCartney). The twist is can we do this using only other artists from Lollapalooza’s lineup this year? Find out below!

Album Review: At.Long.Last.A$AP | A$AP Rocky

A.L.L.A.
BY TRENT KRESLINS

2015 has been a year filled many top artists dropping albums. We’ve had Kendrick, Drake, and Tyler to name  a few. One of the leaders of the new school, A$AP Rocky has been one of the most interesting figures in rap culture throughout this decade. Coming up around the time of the Beast Coast movement, Flacko has grown to have the largest fanbase of his fellow new school New York artists thanks to songs like ‘Peso’ and ‘Fucking Problem’. As an artist Rocky has come a long way from his first L.L.A mixtape, and this album is no exception. With just the right amount of fashion brags and wavy beats, At.Long.Last.A$AP proves to be a great album that will surely be in consideration for album of the year.

Check Out the Red Band Trailer for “DOPE”, Starring A$AP Rocky and Vince Staples

If we told you Pharrell Williams, Vince Staples and A$AP Rocky were collaborating, you would probably assume it’s a new song or album. Wrong. “DOPE” isn’t just a word to describe these three artists but it’s also a new movie that the rappers all play a big part in. Executively produced by Pharrell, “DOPE” comes out June 19th on Open Road Films and stars Shameik Moore as Malcolm, with some supporting performances by Rocky and Vince.

A Sundance Film Festival favorite, DOPE centers around a high school kid who is juggling college applications, academic interviews, and college prep tests when getting involved with the wrong person (played by A$AP) gets him into a wild drug-dealing adventure. Beyond its rappers, this cast is stacked all around, and you definitely won’t want to miss out next month.

Watch the trailer for “DOPE” below.
