Of course, Drizzy is certainly referencing his iLoveMakonnen track ‘Tuesday’, but is he throwing shots at his own artist? After hearing Makonnen’s track ‘Club Goin’ Up on a Tuesday’, Drake teamed up with the young artist for the remix ‘Tuesday’, and later signed the Atlanta rapper. Fast forward a few months later, and now it seems like Drake may be calling Makonnen two faced.
If you somehow didn’t hear, Drake just pulled a Beyonce and released a surprise album on iTunes. While Beyonce’s release was certainly game changing, Drake’s just might have a much more interesting back story. With this surprise release of Drake’s fourth studio album, If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late, is Drizzy now out of his contract with Cash Money Records?
We were optimistic just hours ago that Drake was releasing a brand new mixtape tonight, well now it looks like he one-upped even our best predictions as Drizzy has just released a surprise album on iTunes. The album, titled If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late (possible shot at angry label heads?) is available now and has features from Lil Wayne, Partynextdoor, and Travis Scott and production from 40, Boi-1da, Vinlyz, Partynextdoor and more! Earlier today Kanye West premiered a brand new song titled ‘Wolves’, track one from his forthcoming album, which features Chicago’s Vic Mensa, as well as ‘Chandelier’ singer Sia. The song was debuted during Kanye’s adidas Yeezy Boost debut show at New York Fashion Week, and after recorded footage of the song leaked, we now have a higher quality version of the track for your listening pleasure. Late last year, Chicago rapper NoName Gypsy tweeted “We go where the light is. #surf #myHottestVerseEver”, which seemed to suggest that she had a feature on Chance the Rapper and the Social Experiment’s upcoming album Surf. This should come as no major surprise as she gave a great verse on Chance’s Acid Rap project. And now after last night, the hints from her tweet hold a little more weight, as she opened up for Mick Jenkins at SOBs in New York City. During her performance she rapped a verse which she told fans would be on Surf. No word yet if “We Go Where the Light Is” is the title of the Surf track, but check out NoName Gypsy’s performance of her verse below.

Big day for Kanye West and the artists he is putting on today. Earlier today fans got to hear the first track off Kanye’s forthcoming album, titled ‘Wolves‘, which features Chicago’s Vic Mensa. During his Roc city classic concert in New York City with Kevin Durant, Kanye West brought out New Jersey rapper Fetty Wap to perform his 2014 song ‘Trap Queen’. Kanye described the track as one of his favorite songs right now and wished the rapper good luck in his future. If Fetty wasn’t building a name for himself enough before, this appearance and Kanye co-sign will definitely help. Check out the video for ‘Trap Queen’ below.
According to famous American deejay DJ Skee, and hints from Drake’s Instagram, Drake is dropping a brand new mixtape for fans tonight. After dropping his new short film “Jungle” earlier today, it really seems like Drizzy season is here. Check out the evidence below!
Every Thursday we review albums that are considered “classic” in our “Throwback Thursday Review” series. This week it’s the classic fire flames debut from one of hip hop’s greatest duos: The Clipse’s Lord Willin’. Ahhh, this was the album that started it all for me. This was the very first hip hop album that I ever listened to, and Lord Willin’ was the album that got me into the genre for the long haul. This classic LP swayed me from groups like Fall Out Boy and Rise Against, genres like alt rock and punk rock, and I finally realized that rap and hip hop is the most complete genre in terms of all the factors that go into the making of an album and the complete product that is released.
Rapper Mick Jenkins is one of our Top Chicago Artists to Watch for in 2015, and his new OnGuad produced track ‘Time’ is proof why. ‘Time’ is set to appear on The FDC and 119 Productions’ upcoming Chicago Sights ’N Sounds compilation, and you can stream it now, below.
It has been awhile since we have got new news from Drake. Although ‘0-100’ was Grammy nominated and the song of the summer in 2014, the year was still relatively quite for Drizzy.
