Singer-songwriter Bryson Tiller is one of the hardest working artists to emerge in 2015, and he is showing no signs of stopping come next year. With huge co-signs from Drake and Timbaland, Bryson had a number of labels to choose from and eventually found home with RCA Records through a creative partnership. And now to follow up his critically acclaimed and debut project, Trap Soul, Tiller has released a new track, titled ‘Self Righteous’. With production from Ayo and vocals from the Louisville singer, ‘Self Righteous’ is another great record from Tiller and definitely a must listen.

With less than a minute left in regulation, Patrick Kane gained a game tying assist to force overtime between his Chicago Blackhawks and the Anaheim Ducks last night. Not only did his assist help his team to a 3-2 victory, but it extended his current point streak to 18, tied for the largest point streak ever by an American-born player in the NHL.
In the past 18 games, Kaner has 10 goals, 19 assists and an impressive total of 29 points.
Today, the 2015 Stanley Cup champs face the Los Angeles Kings (winners of the cup in 2014), giving Kane the chance to extend his point streak even further, and make him the sole holder of the American points streak record.
As Kane has the chance to make history tonight, it raises the question of whether or not, the 27-year-old Kane is already the best American born hockey player in the history of the NHL?
If all goes Kane’s way tonight, his point streak will not be the only accolade to support his greatness. The Hawks’ forward has already won 3 Stanley Cups and is only one of four American born players to win the Conn Smythe trophy, awarded to the MVP of the Stanley Cup playoffs. And while Patrick Kane only took home the Conn Smythe one of three years which the Hawk’s won the cup in recent history, he has played big roles in all three wins, as #88 is one of the best players in the playoffs.
In his 116 playoff games played, Kane has put up an amazing 114 points.
While three other Americans have been dubbed the MVP of the Stanley Cup playoffs in the past, no American has ever been named the regular season’s MVP, the Hart Memorial Trophy. While that may sound surprising, you’d also be surprised to hear that no American born player has ever led the league in points at the regular season’s end either, the Art Ross Trophy. Kane was on this track last year, until he suffered an injury in the second half of the season/
If things continue at their current pace, Kane just make take home both. Currently Kane leads the league in points and assists at 35 and 22 respectively. Kane also is 2nd in the league in total goals. Just weeks ago on his 27th birthday, Patrick Kane led the NHL in points, goals, assists and plus/minus. While the reigning Stanley Cup Champions have struggled at times this season, and despite a rape investigation, which has now been dropped but trickled into the regular season, Kane has been on fire.
Kane is playing the best hockey of his career and if things ended today, the Blackhawks’ star forward would take home the Art Ross and likely the Hart Memorial.
It’s hard to imagine having the discussion of “the best ever” for any category, when the player still has a couple seasons until they turn 30, but the numbers don’t lie. Kane has already achieved what only a microscopic group of Americans have done before him and he is easily on pace to do a number of things that no one from the U.S. has ever done.
If he isn’t already the best American to ever do it, talk to me in a year!
Tonight Chicago was treated to a special Thanksgiving Eve performance from it’s very own, rapper Lupe Fiasco, as Fiasco performed a headlining set at Chicago’s Concord Music Hall. This performance wasn’t like most Lupe Fiasco concerts however, as Lupe dubbed the show as Food & Liquor vs. The Cool, which of course are Lupe’s first two albums.
Performing tracks from each of the critically acclaimed LPs, fans could finally put to rest the debate of which Lupe Fiasco album is better. The only problem is, after tonight’s great performances of each, it is only harder to decide which project is more of a classic. Whether you prefer The Cool or Food & Liquor though, you can’t go wrong listening to either and you definitely had a blast if you stopped by the Concord Music Hall tonight to hear them live.
Check out our photos of Lupe Fiasco’s hometown show below.
2015 saw a lot of great concert tours, from J. Cole’s Forest Hills Drive Tour with Big Sean, YG and Jeremih to Taylor Swift’s huge 1989 World Tour. Some tours sold out stadiums and arenas, selling out the entire tour before it even begun, and some tours were in small intimate venues, either strategically or because simple supply and demand. Some had stacked lineups top to bottom and some introduced us to a lot of great new artists. Festivals like Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo and Coachella were bigger than ever this year, but that didn’t stop your favorite artists from building up some great shows of their own.

[UPDATE: Charges against Malcolm London have now been dropped.]
Last night hundreds of protesters walked the streets of downtown Chicago to protest the murder of 17-year-old Laquan McDonald. While the protests were overwhelmingly peaceful, a small scuffle did break out between Chicago police officers and protesters. Involved in the mass scufflewas Chicago’s own, rapper Vic Mensa. Mensa stood behind his brothers and sisters to march in support of McDonald and to show their disgust over the newly released video, where an officer (who has since been charge with murder) is seen shooting McDonald 16 times.
Mensa wasn’t the only Chicago activist in attendance last night. Poet and activist Malcolm London, who is one of the co-founders and hosts of Chance The Rapper’s “Open Mike” nights, was arrested and charged with felony aggravated assault. While police allege that London struck an officer, other witnesses disagree. Alderman Roderick Sawyer, who is the Chair of the City Council Black Caucus in Chicago, commended London as a hero. According to Sawyer’s daughter, who was with London last night, police officers wrongfully blamed London for a flare light that was thrown and promptly apprehended him after.

The city of Chicago is rightfully outraged tonight as graphic footage was released of the death of Laquan McDonald, who was brutally killed by a Chicago police officer. While this alone is reason for many to be applauded, the officer who shot McDonald, who has since been charged with murder, shot the 17-year old a total of 16 times in the incident.
In a video captured by CBS, a scuffle breaks out between protesters and Chicago police officers. While he certainly isn’t shown doing anything wrong, one notable person involved in the middle of the fight is Chicago’s own, rapper Vic Mensa, who can be seen towards the end of the video. Tensions are very high in Chicago right now, and knowing how active Vic is in his city and the Black Lives Matter movement, his involvement is not unexpected.
Throughout the night only one arrest was made during the protests. Community activist, Malcolm London, was arrested after police say he punched an officer. The activist, who runs Chance The Rapper’s “Open Mike” events in Chicago was charged with a felony, the Chicago Tribune reports.
