Last night, rapper J. Cole brought his Forest Hills Drive Tour to Chicago with a stop at Tinley Park’s Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre. With opening performances from Cole’s Dreamville arts (Bas, Cozz, Omen), rapper YG, Chicago’s own Jeremih and G.O.O.D. Music‘s Big Sean, fans certainly got their money’s worth. To warm up the crowd for the main event, Big Sean performed a number of his best known tracks, including a large number of tracks from his Dark Sky Paradise album, as well as some of Sean’s best guest features. The highlight of Sean’s performance however came during technical difficulties, as Sean’s mic cut out during his emotional performance of ‘One Man Can Change The World’. While the crowd initially booed the sound team for the problems, once the Windy City fans could tell that the mic wasn’t going to immediately fix itself, the entire crowd stop their boos and instead cheered for Sean with all their energy as he continued to rap his latest single, dedicated to his late grandmother. Knowing the context behind the record, the crowd helped Sean turned a negative moment into a memorable on.

For J. Cole’s headlining set, the man proved why he is meant to top the bill of a long and talented list of performers. Cole not only played his entire album 2014 Forest Hills Drive, but he gave intimate stories behind the records (as almost a director’s commentary to the album). Cole also brought out Jeremih for a performances of their ‘Planes (Remix)’, and even sprinkled in a few tracks for some of his day one fans. Not one fan left the amphitheatre feeling that Cole and the rest of the lineup didn’t give them their money’s worth.

Last night, Milwaukee singer Lex Allen and the New Age Narcissism collective performed a headlining set at the Brady Street Festival in Milwaukee, WI. While many festival goers were sprinkled throughout the Brady St. bars, somewhere between buzzed and drunk (since it’s what Mil-town does best), a great crowd of fans showed up for the Allen’s entertaining set. Full of costume changes, dancers and surprise performances from NAN’s Siren and Lorde Fredd33, Lex delivered for his hometown crowd.

This past weekend, Taylor Swift brought her epic 1989 World Tour to Chicago’s Soldier Field. Selling over 100,000 seats in two nights, Taylor’s Chi-town fans saw performances from Shawn Mendes, Vance Joy, Haim, and of course Swift herself. Last night we checked out the tour for ourselves and it was more than memorable! From the light show and fireworks, to the costume changes, and even a surprise appearance from country music’s Sam Hunt, the concert left us speechless. And while two nights at Soldier Field wasn’t quite enough, as both performances sold out, we took some photos while we enjoyed the music, to help share the night to those who were at Pitchfork, another concert, or perhaps just sitting at home.

Check out our photos from Taylor Swift’s “1989 World Tour” stop at Chicago’s Soldier Field below (and check out our review here)!

Mike Posner is currently on the road, traveling across the United States with a few friends while he makes stops in a number of cities for surprise pop-up shows, for crowds of just a couple hundred people. Last night, Posner brought this tour of intimate performances to Chicago’s Lincoln Park, which holds some of the best views of the Chitown skyline. Introduced by his friend and co-writer, Adam Friedman, Mike performed his new EP, The Truth, as well as his catalog of hits (‘Cooler Than Me’, ‘Please Don’t Go’) and even some unheard music from his forthcoming sophomore album. The scenery was beautiful, as Posner and some of his most dedicated fans hung out just before dusk, playing music and sharing laughs.

Milwaukee’s Summerfest 2015, the World’s Largest Music Festival, seemed like it kicked off just yesterday but it’s now over and it definitely delivered. Unlike many other premiere music festivals, Summerfest (which runs until July 5th) brings an especially diverse list of performers to Milwaukee’s lakefront every year, creating for a festival where you can see Kanye West (who performed in 2011) share the same stage as Peter Gabriel and Kid Rock. So to get things started for The Early Registration’s first year at Summerfest, we had to catch a wide variety of acts all festival long.

Check out our Summerfest Day 11 photos below, of Neil Young, Kansas, Mat Kearney and Smash Mouth!
