Kanye West – 808s & Heartbreak
One of my very favorite albums of all time, and my favorite Kanye West album to date; 808s is the very definition of one man’s pleasure being another’s pain. Conceived in what was the darkest point in Kanye’s life, he expressed himself in the best way he knew how: through the music. Like it’s namesake the record was produced in whole by the 808’s drum machine and a man’s broken heart. To really enjoy this album in full, it’s perhaps best to listen to it from November all the way to February. When the season goes from cold to it’s coldest, is the best peek inside Kanye’s psych at the time, that we’ll ever have.
