Stefan Ponce is more than just the producer behind your favorite records from Childish Gambino, Vic Mensa and Chance The Rapper. Although his name is forever attached to some of your favorite rappers, Ponce is currently making a name for himself. Don’t label him as the Grammy-nominated Stefan Ponce, or the Childish Gambino-affiliated Stefan Ponce, or the guy who produced ‘Down On My Luck’ and ‘3005’, Ponce is an artist of his own, with an album of his own that’s on its way. We sat down with Stefan Ponce to talk about his forthcoming project, and some of his artist friends who have helped him get to this point.

While Childish Gambino (Donald Glover) usually gives his fans a steady flow of new music, it seems like it has been a minute since his last project, STN MTN/Kauai. It’s not at the point where any bit of new content, for any of Glover’s multiple endeavors, gets us excited. We are awaiting new music, he is working on his Atlanta TV show with FX, and next on the docket is Glover’s appearance in the upcoming Matt Damon film, “The Martian.” In the film, directed by Ridley Scott, Glover plays the role of Rich Purnell, a nerdy anti-social NASA employee, and you can watch his portrayal when the film hits screens on October 2nd.

Watch the new trailer for “The Martain” below.

If you are familiar with Childish Gambino’s record ‘No Small Talk’ (or it’s original version ‘Gahdamn’), then you know Kari Faux has bars. While she is steadily climbing up the ranks of female rappers that you need to know, the Donald Glover co-signee has now dropped her new music video, for her track ‘Supplier’. In a message to fans, Faux wrote “If you’re (watching this video), you’re probably a really cool person. I appreciate you for watching my videos and listening to my music. I hope you enjoy this video and continue to follow me on this journey.”

Hopsin Talks Rappers’ Images with Hot 97, Calls Childish Gambino a “Flip Flop Rapper”

It should never come to anyone’s surprise when Hopsin calls out another rapper. This time around, Hopsin sent shots at (Donald Glover) Childish Gambino during his new interview with Ebro and Laura Stylez on Hot 97. However, to be fair, Hopsin wasn’t overtly disrespectful to his rap peers this time at least. When talking about rappers and their strategic styles and images, Hopsin said:

Off the new soundtrack for “Magic Mike XXL”, Donald Glover (aka Childish Gambino), who also has a role in the upcoming film, contributed a dope cover of Bruno Mars’ record ‘Marry You’. What sounds like could have been a track from his latest project, Kauai, Gambino’s spin on ‘Marry You’ definitely delivers. The official soundtrack also features Jeremih, 112, Genuine, Lil Wayne, Glass Animals and many more!

Childish Gambino Previews Brand New Track at Bonnaroo 2015

The Childish Gambino drought may be coming to an end. The rapper/writer/creative hasn’t released any new music since his STN MTN / Kauai Mixtape-EP last fall, but when Donald took the Bonnaroo stage this weekend, he premiered a brand new untitled track. The song doesn’t have any rapping on it, but instead features layered melodies and crooning that sounds super Prince-y. The refrain seems to feature the lyrics “I’m in love when we are smoking that la la la la”.

Whatever this is from, we can’t wait to hear the full version. Watch the performance below.
