Bay Area MC Dee Dot Jones is entering a new era in his career, and to celebrate the transition, he’s released his campiest video yet along with uncomfortable (in the way that you can’t stop looking at it) artwork for a heavy 2 minute bumrush entitled “Racing Fluid”. The artwork’s style references the cover for his last project Forever Forward, which featured collaborations with Chynna producer Cloud Atrium. He also cleverly reveals the release date for his debut album in the video (it’s June 20th if you can’t catch it).
Stream the track and watch the video for it below.
The weekend must have come early. Today, Texas based teenage rapper Z-Wells has released his new EP entitled Galore, with songs exploring that ratchet lifestyle (laaafff stooowwww) that you just can’t ignore. The project is entirely produced by Sour 7 and each track features separate artwork by the talented SWCovers and Alias. Stream the project below.
Soundcloud is a gold mine! This week I got to check out a new record by past TER interviewee Tae Miles, as well as new songs by artists I had never heard before: Ziggy2Playa and XVRHLDY.
Earlier this month we wrapped up our amazing experience during our first year at Coachella. The weekend was surreal, as music fans saw performances from Drake, Lil B, The Weeknd, Tyler the Creator, Toro y Moi, Action Bronson, Raekwon & Ghostface Killah, Vic Mensa, Run The Jewels and many more! While we posted a small selection of our favorite photos last weekend, to share our experience with our readers, we will be posting new photo galleries from Coachella EVERY DAY FOR THE NEXT MONTH. We saw over 30 great performances this past weekend and we will share our collection of photos of each until we run out!

[Update: We have confirmed our suspicions that the cover art is fan made. Still, the artwork is too nice! You definitely may need to use it as an alternate cover on iTunes.]
Earlier this week, Chance The Rapper announced to fans at Michigan State University that his highly anticipated album with The Social Experiment, Surf, was coming in less than a week. And now today, to further build our anticipation, we have the cover art for Surf… maybe. While we haven’t had confirmation from Chance himself, the cover seems way too professional and way too close too the style/feel of Chance’s Acid Rap project to be fan made. However Surf is not just a Chance album, it’s an album with The Social Experiment (that centers around Donnie Trumpet), yet Chance alone is on this cover. Either way though, we haven’t had a cover design get us more excited for an album in awhile!
After months of silence, Lil Ugly Mane has finally come out of the shadows to release a new mixtape entitled THIRD SIDE OF TAPE. This tape is the third and final part of the “Three-Sided Tape” trilogy of unreleased material. If you bought the tape through Bandcamp, you received a less than two minute preview of Oblivion Access, the final album from Lil Ugly Mane.

Earlier today Chance The Rapper shared a photo of himself and Kanye West, making fans excited for a potential (and now speculated) collaboration. Well that wasn’t the only good news for Chance fans, because during a concert for Michigan State University tonight, Chance announced to fans that his highly anticipated album Surf (with The Social Experiment) is coming THIS WEEK.
Time to get excited because the surf waves are almost here! Chance has been working with Andre 3000, Frank Ocean and J. Cole (just to name a few), and while we don’t know a complete or exact list of features on Surf, we can definitely expect a quality follow-up to Acid Rap with some great features as well.
[UPDATE:Since our original post, Chance has posted another (different) photo of him and Kanye (shown below) on his Instagram with the caption: “When I dream of Heaven I don’t see sharp edges.” A potential song lyric?]
[UPDATE 2:Chance has also announced that his new album with The Social Experiment, Surf, is coming this week.]
Last year, Chance The Rapper finally met Kanye West. While fans of both Chicago artists were excited, no one was more excited than Chance himself, as he has never hesitated to let people know that he is a huge Kanye fan. The silver lining of the two meeting each other last year is that it wasn’t at the studio, it was at the Made In America music festival, where artists cross paths and pose for pictures all the time, and there was no reason to suggest that the two would collaborate in the near future.
Today though, we have a new photo of Chance and Kanye. And while we can’t be certain this picture is from today, you will notice that you can see Kanye’s new So Help Me God tattoo, that he got in March. Are they working on new music? Did Kanye’s ‘Wolves’ collaborator and Chance’s longtime friend Vic Mensa get the two together? Have the two possibly been working together for awhile now? We have heard rumors for awhile that Kanye is working with another big Chicago artist. We won’t speculate too much but we will keep our fingers crossed!
