For the third Friday in a row, Chicago’s Vic Mensa has release another new record. This time around Vic dropped his track, titled ‘I Been’, which is produced by Smoko Ono and the legendary Mike Dean. This one is three minutes of straight fire, so don’t wait around, check it out now (especially if Vic continues dropping new music at this rate). Also be sure to stay tuned for more information on Vic forthcoming and debut album, Traffic.
After releasing hisGalore EP earlier this year, which mostly consisted of cuts that didn’t make his upcoming album, Houston artist Z-Wells has returned with the first official “Numbers”. Over vibrant production, Wells raps about the common equalizer: money. While the subject matter is nothing new, his delivery is. His diverse flows and witty punchlines make the song one of my favorites of the year. Stream “Numbers” below and enjoy the rest of your summer bumping this song.
If you are familiar with Childish Gambino’s record ‘No Small Talk’ (or it’s original version ‘Gahdamn’), then you know Kari Faux has bars. While she is steadily climbing up the ranks of female rappers that you need to know, the Donald Glover co-signee has now dropped her new music video, for her track ‘Supplier’. In a message to fans, Faux wrote “If you’re (watching this video), you’re probably a really cool person. I appreciate you for watching my videos and listening to my music. I hope you enjoy this video and continue to follow me on this journey.”
There is no better male female team in hip-hop right now than Chicago’s Chance The Rapper and Noname Gypsy. Everytime the two get on the same track, it’s fire. Noname had a stand out verse on Acid Rap, the project with introduced Chance to a lot of his current fans. Then Noname also held her own with all the rap giants who contributed features on Surf. Most recently too, the two also teamed up on one of Chance and Lil B’s tracks (check out our review of that mixtape here). This time around, the two rapping poets have again linked up, for Chance’s new track ‘Isreal’. And if you couldn’t guess, it’s another amazing collab.
Drake isn’t the only Canadian rapper that can sing, as rapper Tory Lanez (who has probably written for a few of your favorite rappers) showcases his voice in his new music video for his ‘Say It’ record (produced by Pop Wansel and Toro). You can download the official single now oniTunes, or you can watch the video here. Lanez is currently working with producer Benny Blanco, on his upcoming debut album, which is slated for release early next year on Blanco’s Mad Love/Interscope Records label.

Earlier today, Milwaukee rapper WebsterX premiered his new music video, for his Mic Kellogg produced record ‘Lately’, on Complex. Speaking on the track, WebsterX told fans “a lot has happened since I released ‘doomsday’, a lot has occurred in the last couple of months and this is a gift from myself to you.” Like with his ‘doomsday’ visuals, WebsterX again teamed up with the talented Cody LaPlant & Damien Klaven for the video’s direction, and again the video is amazing!
In case you thought they were joking, they weren’t, as Chicago’s Chance The Rapper and Lil B The Based God have joined forces to release a new collaborative mixtape, and it’s available now. The new project is titled Free, and it’s a collection of based freestyles and it is very rare! Very very rare! Thank the Based God and press play because Chance and Lil B have made history to create this unique project, which you will not want to sleep on.
Major Lazer co-founder Switch (Beyonce, M.I.A.) has a new project/collective called “With You.” And to kick the new project, Switch has recruited Long Beach rapper Vince Staples, for his new single ‘Ghost’. We definitely dig the new collaboration, and while Staples may not perform the track live, you certainly will not want to miss him on his upcoming tour with A$AP Rocky, Tyler the Creator and Danny Brown. Tickets go on sale for Staples’ new tour on Friday.
Stream With You. and Staples new collaboration ‘Ghost’ below.
Mackelmore and Ryan Lewis are back, and this time they have recruited the help of Ed Sheeran for their new single. The new track is titled ‘Growing Up (Sloane’s Song)’ and it serves as an ode to Macklemore’s new-born daughter, Sloane Ava Simone Haggerty, who was just born 2 months ago on May 29th. Speaking on his inspiration for the record, Macklemore told fans “There is nothing like the joy and happiness that comes from bringing a baby into this universe. She has filled my heart in ways that I never knew were possible.” While this emotional single tides you over, stay tuned as we get more information on Macklemore’s forthcoming album.
James Fauntleroy, the behind-the-scenes artist who is responsible for writing many hit songs, released a song titled Magic late Monday night. It was produced by Frank Ocean’s go-to producer, Malay. The SoundCloud description states that Magic is a single from Fauntleroy’s “upcoming motion album” 1984. James is known by most music listeners as a featured artist on songs by Drake, J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar, Big Sean, and many more. Or maybe he’s known most as the lead singer for the No I.D.-led band, Cocaine 80s. It is very possible, though, that 1984 will allow the singer to become most known for his solo work.
