BY TER STAFF

To kick off his 2015, Grammy Award winning rapper Macklemore took his raps to the streets. What street though? Sesame Street. Now he can tell you how to thrift and tell you how to get to Sesame Street as well. Check out the video for yourself below as the ‘Same Love’ rapper hops on the track with the Real “O.G.” (Oscar the Grouch), but warning… Macklemore’s raps are trash… no literally, he is actually rapping about garbage.

Album Review: Evermotion | Guster

Evermotion
BY NICHOLAS HAGAR

Guster has been around for a while. The band formed in 1991 and went on to release six albums before Evermotion, their newest offering. This album will be released with Ocho Mule Records on January 13, 2015, but it premiered exclusively on Spotify on January 6. Evermotion stands as a respectable addition to Guster’s discography. It is definitely in the style of the band’s previous work, but it also has its own quality to it; it’s more outgoing and present. The band stretched out and explored with this album, unafraid of any sound or combination.Evermotion is a reflective work, a modern addition to a previous era of drug-infused, relaxed music.

Kanye West and Former-Friend/Rapper Consequence Make Amends

If you’re a fan of rapper Consequence, there is a good chance it may be due to his work with Kanye West. From The College Dropout track ‘Spaceship’ to their critically acclaimed ‘Gone’ on Late Registration, the two could always produce a great track. However after Kanye’s focus began to shift on other artists, Consequence was unhappy and felt that his career was put on the backburner. Eventually Consequence began to publicly speak on the end of his friendship with Kanye, eventually telling Power 105.1‘s “The Breakfast Club” about how Kanye did not reach out after the birth of Consequence’s son (despite the end of their friendship). “I didn’t never want no money from Kanye as far as my son was concerned. It’s just a matter of, ‘Yo congratulations; your life is changing.’ That’s a friend, so when you’re not my friend no more and I ghostwrote for, I’ma tell everybody.” It may be some time later, but it appears now that things are better, as the two were recently seen together at John Legend’s 36th birthday party this past weekend. Check out the photo below, and who knows, maybe we will see the two combine for another great track one day.

A G.O.O.D. Conversation with Big Sean

PHOTOS AND STORY BY DAN GARCIA

Yesterday Detroit’s own Big Sean traveled to his sister city of Chicago to speak to aspiring artists at the Chicago Cultural Center, in an event held by Donda’s House (Kanye West’s nonprofit, named in honor of his late mother, Dr. Donda West). The “Behind The Mic” event consisted of a number of local performances, followed by a Q&A session where fans and the program’s hosts (including the Grammy Award winning Rhymefest) asked Big Sean a number of questions. Throughout the night, Sean gave advice to the young crowd, talked about his upcoming album and payed tribute to his late grandmother. After the event we met with Big Sean to discuss a number of topics, including the sound of his new album, Cruel Winter, a new “G.O.O.D. Fridays” and Kanye’s latest addition to the G.O.O.D. Music team, singer Kacy Hill.

Yesterday Donda’s House and The Chicago Track hosted rapper Big Sean and his Sean Anderson Foundation for their “Behind The Mic” Q&A series. For those who may not know, Donda’s House is Kanye West’s nonprofit organization, named in honor of his late mother, which devotes its time and efforts to supporting young aspiring artists in Chicago. From hosting the community portion of this year’s inaugural AAHH! Fest to hosting this Q&A with Sean, and for the great amount of small events that the organization hosts throughout the city all year, Kanye and the Donda’s House team are continuing Dr. Donda West’s love for education.
