5. Heems – Eat Pray Thug

Heems, formerly of Das Racist, definitely gave his all for his solo debut LP, Eat Pray Thug. In its 11 songs and 40 minutes the highlight of the album comes with its track ‘Flag Shopping’, where Heems gives an emotional and first-hand perspective of how the terrorist attacks on September 11th affected him personally. With Das Racist being a fan favorite of many, there were definitely those who doubted Heems’ departure for his solo efforts, and now with the quality of Eat Pray Thug, Heems has likely paved the way for a continued presence in the rap game and can only go up from here.
