Paving the way for similar performances, Coachella received a visit from the late Tupac Shakur in 2012 via hologram. And now rapper Drake has continued the tradition by inviting hologram Tyga to perform alongside his set last night at Coachella. The labelmates have had a lot of tension in the past, with Tyga explaining that he doesn’t like Drake as a person during a 2014 interview. Drake responded months later with his If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late project, making fun of the rapper’s relationship with 17-year-old Kylie Jenner. When asked why he brought out a hologram of a person who was still alive, Drake simply responded by saying “his music career has been dead ever since Fan of a Fan: The Album anyways.” No word on why hologram Birdman was not at the performance.
