For years, there has been a battle between popular New York radio stations Hot 97 and Power 105, as they battle for the top spot in ratings and relevancy. This has only been heightened by the exposure given through social media. Now, the interviews held by The Breakfast Club and the personalities on Ebro in the Morning are not only available for New Yorkers on their way to work, but everyone with access to YouTube. Specifically, Charlamagne Tha God and Peter Rosenberg have been bumping heads a lot lately. Let’s get into what’s been going on.

Childish Gambino – “Telegraph Ave” (Video)

Childish Gambino just dropped a new music video for his song “Telegraph Ave (‘Oakland’ by Lloyd)”. This is the fourth music video to be released from Gambino’s last album Because the Internet. The video also stars Jhené Aiko who plays Gambino’s lover on what looks to be Kauai, Hawaii. Check out the video below and don’t forget to read our review on Gambino’s last mixtape, STN MTN/Kauai.

Mixtape Review: STN MTN / KAUAI | Childish Gambino

STN MTN/Kauai is the latest release from Atlanta rapper/actor/writer/producer Childish Gambino, aka Donald Glover. Over the past few years he’s blown up as an actor for roles like Troy Barnes on Community and as a rapper, dropping some mixtapes including Culdesac (2010) and R O Y A L T Y (2010), an EP entitled EP, and two albums: Camp and Because the Internet.

Up until Because the Internet, I was not a huge Gambino fan, to say the least. This is unlike a lot of the other writers here, that have been huge Gambino fans since day one. I thought his rapping had potential, but in my opinion it was wasted on an awful voice and some really corny lyrics. With Because the Internet though, he finally stepped up to the plate for me. His rapping was improved like toning down his voice a few notches, shucking some of the corn, and getting some really, really great production. With STN MTN/Kauai, how does he follow up such a surprisingly great project? Well…

In the opening to his STN MTN / Kauai project, Childish Gambino tells us about his dream where he ran Atlanta, which is a theme throughout the tape, and moves into a freestyle over the classic Atlanta rap track ‘Southern Hospitality’ by Ludacris. We took the liberty of showing what it would be like if Gambino ran Atlanta, when Atlanta ran rap, and photoshopped Gambino into some classic Atlanta album covers.
