While his Twitter now remains as a blackout, Childish Gambino tweeted and since deleted a link to a countdown set for 2:00 a.m. on January 9th (Central time), a link which his brother also tweeted. The countdown link is all-black, sleek and simply shows the counter in the bottom right of the page with no information as what its for. Is it the teaser for his new television show Atlanta? Is it new music? Is it a huge announcement? Only time will tell, but definitely stay tuned.
Earlier today the lineup was revealed for New York’s 2015 Governors Ball Music Festival. The fest will be located in Randall’s Island Park in New York City and will take place June 5-7. This year’s lineup continues to impress as the festival will feature performances from Drake, The Black Keys, Lana Del Rey (our 2014 Woman of the Year), Deadmau5, Florence and the Machine, St. Vincent, Tame Impala, Flying Lotus, Little Dragon, Logic and many more. Spoiler alert, at least as shown in the trailer, Donald Glover (Childish Gambino) gets killed by Olivia Wilde in the upcoming horror film “The Lazarus Effect”. The silver lining though is she comes back from the dead to do it, so technically a black guy doesn’t die first in this horror film… technically. In her new interview with Billboard Lana Del Rey revealed a few details about the follow up to her critically acclaimed album Ultraviolence. According to our 2014 Woman of the Year, her next album will be titled Honeymoon and Lana has recorded 9-tracks for the upcoming project, 4 of which the production is “perfect”. Lana told Billboard that the album only needs a “few more songs to tie everything together.”
Check out rapper/singer Kyle (‘Keep It Real’) and his new track with Kehlani, titled ‘Just A Picture’. Speaking to THE FADER, Kyle explained that the song “was inspired by the fear that there will be a ‘selfie class’ in middle school 20 years from now. To kick off the new year, fans heard the first collaboration between Kanye West and Paul McCartney, the beautiful ballad ‘Only One‘ dedicated to Kanye’s late mother, Dr. Donda West. However, according to rapper Ty Dolla $ign there is more Kanye and Paul to come. During his interview will Billboard, Ty revealed that another song has been recorded between Kanye and the legendary Beatle, which also features Ty himself and Rihanna. No exact word on a release date, but stay tuned for more details!
