Vince Staples went all out for his latest music video, in promotion of his debut album, Summertime ’06 (read our review here). In the new video, where Staples raps “I ain’t never ran from nothin’ but the police”, Vince Staples gets handcuffed, arrested, has his mug shot taken, and even gets beat up a little by the police. As one of the stand out tracks from his debut LP, the music video definitely does the track justice.

Frank Ocean Vs. Miguel: Who Is Actually Better?

BY EVAN VOGEL

Frank Ocean vs. Miguel

Trey Songz and R. Kelly, The-Dream and The Weeknd, Usher and Chris Brown. There are an unbelievable amount of artists whose similarities to other artists within their genre have sparked the great debate about “who is better” for as long as music has had a place in our culture. Perhaps the genre most afflicted by this phenomenon is R&B. Why? Who knows. It could be because the sheer amount of artists in this genre and its sub-genres that get airtime on pop radio. It could be because their music occupies the same headspace and covers extremely streamlined topics. Or it could be because they sound so ridiculously similar that people are upset that they have to look up a song before they can determine which person’s vocal chords are gracing their ears. I can only hope that last reason is what the least amount of people agree with.

Lana Del Rey drops title track off upcoming album, “Honeymoon”

After months of tortuous teasing from Lana Del Rey, she has finally decided to drop the single, and the album’s title track, “Honeymoon”.

The single is a slow and swelling six minute burn that floats along sweet and serene strings. Staying in her breathy, whispery pocket, it seems she is continuing the departure of her more pop-friendly sound carved out on her first album Born To Die, as this new track sonically sounds more akin to her last full length LP, Ultraviolence.

Look for her new album Honeymoon to be out this September and listen to the new single with the same name below.

Birdman Throws Bottles and Water at Lil Wayne During Club Performance

BY TER STAFF

During a club performance for rapper Jim Jones’ birthday, Lil Wayne was a target for his former best friend, label head and mentor. While Weezy performed his version of ‘Coco’, where he takes shots at his estranged relationship with Cash Money a Records and Birdman (Baby), Birdman (who was also in attendance for Jones’ birthday) threw bottles of alcohol and water on stage at Lip Wayne. Before a fight eventually broke out, Club Liv officials shut the place down.

Check out videos (with some commentary of what happened) and tweets from some people that were there and saw it all go down first hand. Shout out to KTT for the tip.

A Kickstarter Campaign Wants to Give Kanye West a Lifesized Kanye Body Pillow

Kickstarter has inspired a lot of strange ideas, but this one might be both the coolest and the strangest. “The Brohaus Art Collective” has launched a Kickstarter campaign to try to deliver their Kanye West lifesized body pillow (you read that correctly) to the man himself. The pillow stands at Kanye-height and is designed with a photo of Kanye. For a pledge of $200 or more, supporters in the Bay Area can spend a night with the original body pillow and for a pledge of $1,500 or more you can get a replica Kanye body pillow for your very own.

“We. Love. Kanye… more than life itself. So we made a pillow in his likeness, to lose ourselves in Yeezy’s fluffy embrace day and night. We want to actually hand-deliver the pillow to Kanye himself, but for reasons outside our control, we don’t have his address. With your help, we’re hoping to get enough attention to deliver it to him personally and send our backers updates along the way.”

Support the Kickstarter campaign here and check out photos of the pillow below.

Action Bronson Disses Ghostface Killah: “He’s Not Rapping Like This No More”

Action Bronson paid homage and dissed the Wu Tang’s legendary Ghostface Killah at the same damn time. During his appearance on ESPN’s SportsNation, Action was asked if it has helped or hurt his career sounding like Ghostface Killah in his raps (a comparison he probably hears too much). Originally Action said the comparison is indifferent to his career, saying “I’m just glad it’s one of the greats.” However, Bronson continued saying “He’s not rapping like this no more.” Although Action said it wasn’t a shot at the Ghost and that he was just being honest, when the ESPN panel suggested that Ghostface should put out a remix, Action threw a little shade by saying “he needs something.” To be fair, Action was just being honest on this one.
