Check out the lovely Jhene Aiko’s new music video for her 2014 Souled Out track ‘Eternal Sunshine’. In the video, Aiko floats over a recreation of her life-changing 2013 car accident, reminding us how precious life really is. While traveling with her daughter, and sister Miyoko, Jhene suffered a number of injuries (including a broken wrist). Luckily her daughter was unharmed.
While this is far from “news”, it was too on-point for us not to share. Recently paparazzi captured a photo of Kanye West, wife Kim Kardashian-West and daughter North (Nori). While on the surface this looks like a normal picture (seen below), pictured just behind Kim is a little girl that looks nearly identical Michelle Tanner. For our younger readers, Michelle Tanner was a character on the ’90s sitcom “Full House”, played by both Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen.
We already know Kanye would “marry Kate and Ashley” but maybe he would also clone a baby Mary Kate and Ashley as well. This little girl is clearly the third Olsen twin triplet, just about 26 years removed. Kanye said he wanted a Michelle Tanner for his daughter and some stem-cell genius scientist said “you got it, dude!” You’re not fooling us!
These are the highlights of this past week in music! Hopefully you can bump these tracks on your way to work to brighten up your Monday mornings, and to stay up-to-date on today’s music. This week we have new music from indie rock’s The National, rapper Jon Bellion (along with a new headlining tour), and even Soulja Boy Tell Em. Get started at the jump below to check out our favorite records of the past week.
While Man on the Moon III was originally scheduled to be Kid Cudi’s next LP, thus completing the Man on the Moon trilogy, Kid Cudi announced hours ago that the title of his forthcoming album is “Speedin’ Bullet to Heaven”. As tweeted by Cudi, fans can expect the album “really really soon.” So you will definitely want to stay tuned!
Kanye West isn’t the only person around who praises his music and is blessed with creativity, Kanye’s fans often meet the description as well. And KanyeToThe.com user “AlexClay” had an epic pitch for how Kanye should release his forthcoming and highly anticipated album, So Help Me God.
The ‘Jesus Walks’ rapper has always allowed religion to play a role in his music. While some of his lyrics may not be so holy, Kanye’s “G.O.O.D. Friday” series is just one example of how Christianity is infused in his music promotion. And how does one Kanye fan propose that Ye continue this theme for his new album? For Easter Sunday tomorrow, Kanye should hide physical copies of So Help Me God (or perhaps individual tracks) around major cities throughout the world. Our two cents is that Kanye could even use USB drives hidden in plastic Easter eggs. Then after the eggs have been hidden, Kanye could simply send a tweet for his fans to start their hunt. The most epic Easter Egg Hunt of all time! We already have an idea of where Mr. West would hide copies in Chicago.
You have one day left to roll with this idea Kanye, get to work! Please!
You haven’t heard Soulja Boy Tell Em’s name called a lot in the past few years. Usually when the rapper finds himself in headlines it’s over rap beef and not for the music itself. However there is no denying Soulja Boy’s influence circa 2008 and he is definitely aiming to make a comeback. And now, in promotion of his forthcoming King Soulja 4 project, Soulja has released a new music video for his track ‘Whippin’ My Wrist’, directed by John Anthony Villalobos. King Soulja 4 is set to release in stores on July 28, 2015.
Returning to the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival this year is Heineken’s “Heineken House” experience. This unique Coachella party will feature a dance floor, drinks and a number of amazing acts. Heineken will also introduce “Your Mix. Your Mash.” where fans can create their own mash-ups as loops to mix their own tracks. After mixing a beat, you can relax while enjoying a game of cornhole with a cold Heineken.
It all boils down to the music though and performing at Heineken’s “ultimate house party” this year will be A-Trak, Questlove, Vice, Hot Dub Time Machine, Keys N Krates, SO SUPER SAM and many more. If you’re going to Coachella this year (and are 21 or over of course) be sure to stop by!
Is there a time of the year better than music festival season? We say no. And we just got even more excited for the upcoming season as Sasquatch! Music Festival announced their full schedule, as well as a few new additions to their lineup. This year Sasquatch takes places from Friday, May 22nd to Monday, May 25th at The Gorge in George, Washington. Fans will see performances from Kendrick Lamar, Lana Del Rey, Modest Mouse, St. Vincent and more (get your tickets here).
The one downfall of any good music festival though is there are too many great sets to catch, with not enough time. If only we could be two (sometimes three) places at once. But now with the full schedule for Sasquatch available for music fans, we have compiled our suggested festival itinerary to help the Pacific Northwest plan out their full Sasquatch experience. Or if you prefer, create your own schedule at Sasquatch’s official website.
Check out first installment of our Festival Itinerary series at the jump.
Yasiin Bey (formerly Mos Def) has been a fan of legendary underground rapper MF Doom for quite sometime. In the new remix series, titled BeyonDoom, Bey raps over ‘Beef Rap’. ‘Accordion’, ‘Curls’, ‘Stranger Ways’ and more.
