Today is a huge day for J. Cole’s label Dreamville and Chi-town’s own, rapper Omen, as it marks the release of Omen’s debut LP, Elephant Eyes. Originally announced by the Dreamville signee three years ago, Omen’s debut album features 11 tracks and collaborations with J. Cole, CJ Hamilton, Bas and more. London, England was in for a treat as The Weeknd dropped by to perform a secret concert at a private island event. And if a secret gig from the ‘Can’t Feel My Face’ singer wasn’t enough, The Weeknd also performed a new never-before-heard track. “I’m a prisoner to my addiction,” sings The Weeknd in the new track which is rumored to be called ‘Addiction’ or ‘All I Know’. This song has us even more pumped for The Weeknd’s forthcoming album, Beauty Behind The Madness (pre-order it now on iTunes). No word on whether this track is on the album, but you can find out for yourself when the LP is released on August 28th.

Following the critical success of his latest LP, Carrie & Lowell, singer-songwriter Sufjan Stevens will be hitting the road this fall for a new U.S. tour. Kicking off in Santa Barbara, CA on October 24th, Stevens’ fall tour will hit a number of stops throughout the country before it ends with a show at the Aronoff Center in Cincinnati, OH on November 13th. Tickets will be available Friday, July 24 via www.carrieandlowell.com. This isn’t a tour to miss.
New York rapper Action Bronson found himself in headlines today as Wu Tang Clan’s Ghostface Killah posted a video, sending serious threats to Action, due to Action’s recentESPN appearance. During the appearance, Action’s music was compared to Ghostface, when Action replied that “(Ghostface) isn’t rapping like this no more.” No only did Ghostface not take kindly to being called washed up, but he reallllllly didn’t take kindly. After letting some time pass, Ghostface Killah’s video sent death threats Action’s way, reminding the Mr. Wonderful rapper that he has shooters in all states, that he knows Action’s tour schedule, and that he has guys that can make people “disappear”. While Action was taking shots at a legend, he had a point, and it definitely didn’t warrant death threats or even a response from Ghost.
Although Action Bronson promptly went on an apology campaign on Twitter after the threats, his right hand man, friend, and “cousin by association” Big Body Bes did not appreciate the threats against Action. Although he wasn’t directly referring to Ghostface, with Action’s safety arguably in question today, Bes tweeted a general statement about his commitment to defend and protect his good friend. “THEY DONT MAKE WORDS TO DESCRIBE THE ACTS OF VIOLENCE I WILL COMMIT TO ENSURE THE SAFETY OF @ActionBronson,” Bes tweeted. And if Ghostface really does have shooters in every state, Big Body Bes is coming prepared!
Dreamville rapper Omen announced his debut LP, Elephant Eyes, three years ago. A now it’s almost here. And from the upcoming album, today we have Omen’s Dreamville collaboration with the label’s frontman, J. Cole. The Chicago rapper’s new track is called ‘Things Change’ is one of 11-tracks off the forthcoming LP. Elephant Eyes will release July 21st (tomorrow) via J. Cole’s Dreamville label.

This past weekend, Taylor Swift brought her epic 1989 World Tour to Chicago’s Soldier Field. Selling over 100,000 seats in two nights, Taylor’s Chi-town fans saw performances from Shawn Mendes, Vance Joy, Haim, and of course Swift herself. Last night we checked out the tour for ourselves and it was more than memorable! From the light show and fireworks, to the costume changes, and even a surprise appearance from country music’s Sam Hunt, the concert left us speechless. And while two nights at Soldier Field wasn’t quite enough, as both performances sold out, we took some photos while we enjoyed the music, to help share the night to those who were at Pitchfork, another concert, or perhaps just sitting at home.

Taylor Swift’s marquee and household name is the reason she sold-out back-to-back nights at Chicago’s Soldier Field, the biggest venue in Chicago. Talented opening acts, amazing costumes, beautiful light shows, pyrotechnics, and surprise guests aside, the 1989 World Tour is successful (from a numbers standpoint) because of who T-Swift is as a pop star. But all that extra stuff, the things that make her concerts memorable and well after the tickets are long gone, those are the things that make her live performance special, which ensure that those same fans that went through the gates tonight are the ones that will sit on their computer while they await for the next tour’s tickets to go on-sale. The only problem? As word-of-mouth spreads and fans who are ready to see Taylor for their second, third, or fourth time are joined by those who heard of Swift’s epic performances from a friend and want to see first hand, there won’t be enough room and Soldier Field may need to prepare to book a third night for the next time Swift comes to the Windy City. Having just experienced my first Taylor Swift concert, I am certain that it won’t be my last, as the ‘Bad Blood’ singer puts on a tour that matches her massive record sales, wide influence, and her elite status as a modern pop icon.
Last night Taylor Swift and her 1989 World Tour delivered for the Windy City, as T-Swift performed for Chicago well into the night, and with surprise guests Andy Grammer and Serayah. This just adds to the long catalog of surprise guests in the past couple weeks. So far, Taylor invited Nick Jonas, the U.S. Women’s Soccer team, The Weeknd, Jason Derulo and Lorde to join her on stage for the sold-out crowds and to perform some of their biggest hits. Tonight marked Taylor Swift’s second and final night at Chicago’s Soldier Field, and because of the great cast of surprise guests in the last week, fans could only wonder what Day 2 would hold?
Future is giving back to his fans for their support of his new Dirty Sprite 2 album. Hitting stops in Atlanta, Chicago, New York and Los Angeles from July 20-23th, the ‘F*ck Up Some Commas’ rapper will be performing for free on his mini-tour! Details of the “Salute The Fans” shows will be announced on the morning of. If he is coming to your city, you will not want to miss out. And make sure you get to the venues early, because they all surely will reach capacity.

Last weekend Taylor brought the tour back to the States and she invited Nick Jonas, the U.S. Women’s Soccer team and The Weeknd (who performed his hit single ‘I Can’t Feel My Face’) to New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium. Next up were surprise appearances from Jason Derulo and Swift’s bestie, singer Lorde, who flew in to say hi to fans in our nation’s capital. Tonight marked Taylor Swift’s first night (of two) at Chicago’s Soldier Field. With a great cast of surprise guests in the last week, fans could only speculate what Taylor had up her sleeve for Chicago, one of the country’s best music hubs.
