Next year, in support of his forthcoming album Purpose (which releases in just a couple days), singer Justin Bieber will be heading on a massive 58-date North American tour. Similarly titled, the Purpose Tour, Bugatti Biebs will kick off the tour March 9th in Seattle and the tour will run well into July as he will end things on the east coast at New York’s historic Madison Square Garden. Pretty much, if you don’t live in the middle of nowhere, there is a good chance that Justin is coming to a city near you!
Bieber is no stranger to controversy as of late, but there is no better way of saying ‘Sorry’ than a huge live tour. American Express card holders will be able to purchase advance tickets for the U.S. shows starting November 16th-19th. General ticket sales for all shows will begin Friday, November 20th at 10 a.m. local time at AEGLive.com.
After a photo of a man wearing black face, purportedly country music star Jason Aldean, went viral, a rep for Aldean has now confirmed that the man is in fact Aldean. In the photo Jason Aldean is dressed up as rapper Lil Wayne, and to complement his costume he wore fake dreadlocks and black face. It is one thing to wear black face, but so far, Aldean has issued no apology for his highly racist and offensive costume.
A representative was able to confirm the photo’s authenticity on behalf of Aldean, but Aldean himself (or through his representatives) chose not to issue an apology. It is uncertain whether an apology will later follow, as the backlash will certainly build up, but it will likely be too little, too late. In no circumstances is wearing black face acceptable, Halloween or not, and let’s only hope that the country music star’s career will soon pay the consequences for his October 31st racism.
Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton’s election day is still a year away, but today a new president has been named. Now heading Kanye West’s Def Jam imprint, G.O.O.D. Music, rapper Pusha T has been named as the label’s new president, Billboard reports. This decision has been ongoing for months and all started from a phone call from the label’s founder, Mr. West himself.
“Ye had called me and he was like, ‘Tell me something, What do you think about being the president of G.O.O.D. Music’ And I was like, ‘Well, what are the things that you’re looking for?’ And he was basically just like, to manicure the label, make it profitable and be very business-oriented about it going forward in a manicured type of way.” – Pusha T told Billboard.
We don’t know if this means a hiatus in music from Push, but we couldn’t be happier for the Virginia native.
Premiering on Complex earlier today, Jeezy (formerly Young Jeezy), released another new Sunday record. This one, titled ‘Where I’m From’ and complete with its own music video, is another track from Jeezy’s forthcoming Church In These Streets. The new project drops this month, onNovember 13th and you can pre-order it now on iTunes.

Chicago felt the madness tonight at the United Center. Kicking off the U.S. leg of The Madness Tour, after two sold out nights at Toronto’s Air Canada Centre earlier this week, The Weeknd performed for yet another sold out crowd, this time for the Windy City in the house that Michael Jordan built. He didn’t do it alone though, as the entire lineup was stacked and provided a great deal of variety. Fans who arrived on time were treated to great sets from ‘Beggin for Thread’ singer Banks, as well as G.O.O.D. Music‘s and Grand Hustle’s always energetic, rapper Travis Scott.
While the opening performances only consisted of a few songs each, both Banks and Scott set the tone for the night, both with completely different sounds and moods. Banks performed a handful of records from her latest LP, Goddess, including her big 2014 single, ‘Begin for Thread’. After her beautiful collection of songs, Travis Scott turned up the volume and energy to an entirely different level.
Instantly Scott made sure that everyone in the arena was ready to rage. He may have been playing the largest venue in Chicago, but the energy felt like a club performance. A few hundred feet separated the ‘Antidote’ rapper and the 300 level of the UC, but his energy reached the rafters. Travis choose to perform some of his most turned up records, including his Days Before Rodeo and Owl Pharaoh bangers like ‘Don’t Play’ and ‘Quintana’, and of course his tracks in support of his new and debut LP, Rodeo.
While Scott’s and even Bank’s fans showed up in numbers, the man behind the madness, and whose music is the reason the entire tour sold out even before it began, was set to headline the show. And to open his set, The Weeknd kicked things off with the same record that kicked off his latest LP, ‘Real Life’. After ‘Real Life’ and throughout the night, The Weeknd performed his entire Beauty Behind the Madness album.
Weeknd did not limit things to his latest and most successful album though, performing a number of records from his discography, including a variety of tracks from his critically acclaimed series, The Trilogy. But despite providing ample entertainment for his day one fan base, the crowd was most alive as The Weeknd performed his singles, like ‘The Hills’, ‘Can’t Feel My Face’ and ‘Often’, that have been dominating the airwaves and clubs in the past half year. The tour may have opened up in The Weeknd’s hometown, but it is hard to imagine an energy that could be matched when compared to tonight’s performance at the United Center.

Today we have the first track (and music video) for G.O.O.D. Music signee HXLT’s new album. Kanye’s newest artist, formerly Hollywood Holt, has left us all wondering what his new sound would be like. Need wait no longer though, as the new record, titled ‘Live To Death’, is fire. The visuals are entertaining and the first single at least is perhaps more punk rock than it is rap or anything else, but it works! Details for his forthcoming album, coming soon.

Tonight TDE’s Kendrick Lamar brought his series of intimate venue performances, the “Kunta’s Groove Sessions”, to Chicago, IL. Selling out Chicago’s Riviera Theatre, King Kendrick absolutely killed it! Lamar performed his critically acclaimed To Pimp a Butterfly album, as well as a number of records from his previous projects for his day one fans. Kendrick and his labelmate and opening act, rapper Jay Rock, grooved out all night with the sold out crowd and gave Chi-town a night that it won’t soon forget.

The talented Alessia Cara put out one of our favorite projects this year, with her debut EP Four Pink Walls (check out our review here). Every since introducing the ‘Here’ singer to our readers, when we interviewed Alessia earlier this year, we can’t stop following her story and her new music. And well before anyone could have ever anticipated, Cara’s debut album, Know-It-All, is less than a couple weeks away (available for purchase on November 13th).
