Minutes ago, Mike Posner wrapped up an intimate performance of brand new music on YouTube Livestream. While Mike performed in a low lit room for just a handful of people, the set was streamed for many fans watching at home. Sitting at his piano, Posner premiered new tracks which contrast greatly from his previous mixtapes and debut album, 31 Minutes to Takeoff. Posner kicked off his new folk-influenced and slower-tempoed sound with ‘Buried in Detroit’, an emotional track about our eventual mortality and his hometown of Detroit, MI.

“Next to my father and my father’s father too, I had a spot in New York City, but baby that ain’t no substitute. Not from my hometown, that place people avoid. I made love in every city, but I’ll be buried in Detroit.”

Next, Posner sang another piano ballad, ‘Iris’, before he picked up his guitar and told a story behind his final song for the evening, ‘Took a Pill in Ibiza’. “Almost a year ago, I was in the studio with a buddy of mine. His name is (Country music’s) Jake Owen.” said Posner. Mike then told fans about their competitive songwriting, where each would try to bring the better new song to the table. After Owen asked Posner about the inspiration behind one track, Mike explained that the song was inspired by one girl he used to mess around, with mixed with another girl he used to mess around with, and with some of the song simply made up. Owen then asked “Why don’t you just tell the truth?” These words inspired ‘Took a Pill in Ibiza’ are ones that Posner will never forget. This advice from Owen is likely a big inspiration behind Posner’s new sound.

In ‘Took a Pill in Ibiza’, Mike Posner describes himself as a singer everyone forgot and who blew his chance. But if the studio versions of Mike’s new tracks sound as good as the live performances, Mike just may prove himself wrong in 2015. Just days ago Mike saw his first #1 Billboard hit with Maroon 5’s ‘Sugar’ (written by Posner), and perhaps we may see another one in the future, but performed by Posner himself.

Earlier this year, Vic Mensa performed his track ‘U Mad’ (which he first performed at The Metro in Chicago in 2014) alongside Kanye West. While it was speculated for awhile whether Kanye actually appears on this song, we now have confirmation that Kanye indeed has a verse on the track. Last night Vic played the track (with Kanye’s verse and all) at his producer Smoko Ono’s 22nd birthday party in Chicago. Smoko Ono produced the track with Stefan Ponce. The song is fire!

Check out a fan recording of Vic playing the song below. Sources suggest the song may drop today. Get excited!

North West Hangs Out With Full House’s Michelle Tanner (Look-Alike)

BY TER STAFF

While this is far from “news”, it was too on-point for us not to share. Recently paparazzi captured a photo of Kanye West, wife Kim Kardashian-West and daughter North (Nori). While on the surface this looks like a normal picture (seen below), pictured just behind Kim is a little girl that looks nearly identical Michelle Tanner. For our younger readers, Michelle Tanner was a character on the ’90s sitcom “Full House”, played by both Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen.

We already know Kanye would “marry Kate and Ashley” but maybe he would also clone a baby Mary Kate and Ashley as well. This little girl is clearly the third Olsen twin triplet, just about 26 years removed. Kanye said he wanted a Michelle Tanner for his daughter and some stem-cell genius scientist said “you got it, dude!” You’re not fooling us!

A Kanye West Fan Has an Epic Easter-Related Idea for a Surprise Release

BY TER STAFF

Kanye West isn’t the only person around who praises his music and is blessed with creativity, Kanye’s fans often meet the description as well. And KanyeToThe.com user “AlexClay” had an epic pitch for how Kanye should release his forthcoming and highly anticipated album, So Help Me God.

The ‘Jesus Walks’ rapper has always allowed religion to play a role in his music. While some of his lyrics may not be so holy, Kanye’s “G.O.O.D. Friday” series is just one example of how Christianity is infused in his music promotion. And how does one Kanye fan propose that Ye continue this theme for his new album? For Easter Sunday tomorrow, Kanye should hide physical copies of So Help Me God (or perhaps individual tracks) around major cities throughout the world. Our two cents is that Kanye could even use USB drives hidden in plastic Easter eggs. Then after the eggs have been hidden, Kanye could simply send a tweet for his fans to start their hunt. The most epic Easter Egg Hunt of all time! We already have an idea of where Mr. West would hide copies in Chicago.

You have one day left to roll with this idea Kanye, get to work! Please!

You haven’t heard Soulja Boy Tell Em’s name called a lot in the past few years. Usually when the rapper finds himself in headlines it’s over rap beef and not for the music itself. However there is no denying Soulja Boy’s influence circa 2008 and he is definitely aiming to make a comeback. And now, in promotion of his forthcoming King Soulja 4 project, Soulja has released a new music video for his track ‘Whippin’ My Wrist’, directed by John Anthony Villalobos. King Soulja 4 is set to release in stores on July 28, 2015.
