Sometimes certain songs need a re-visit for us to appreciate them a little bit more. Here we’ve compiled some remixes of songs that we found to be just a little bit better than the original.
Work REMIX – A$AP Ferg (ft. French Montana, Trinidad James, ScHoolboy Q, A$AP Rocky)
In early 2013, when A$AP Ferg released the original “Work“, something felt very much missing from the song. It obviously wanted to be a banger but there was some missing piece that kept it from its potential. A few months later, Ferg found that missing piece when he recruited French Montana, Trinidad James, ScHoolboy Q, and fellow A$AP Mob member A$AP Rocky for the remix which proved to be one of the biggest bangers of 2013. Also, the remix to Shabba by Ferg is very good too, though not better than the original so it didn’t quite make the list.
Shot You Down Remix – Isaiah Rashad (ft. Jay Rock and ScHoolboy Q)
After signing to Top Dawg Entertainment back in 2013, Isaiah Rashad released “Shot You Down,” the first single through the label. For his debut EP, Clivia Demo, Rashad recruited label mates Jay Rock and ScHoolboy Q to hop on the song and both supply some of their best verses yet.
Ignition (Remix) – R. Kelly
While the original is a bit of a slow jam with countless car metaphors, the remix is full-on party jam. It even had highly promoted petition for it to be the new national anthem of the United States. We’re still mad at Obama for ignoring it.
