One of G.O.O.D. Music‘s newest signees and Chicago’s own, HXLT, recently released his self-titled (and Kanye West co-signed) debut LP. And today we have a new music video from the emerging singer. And if new visuals weren’t enough, you can see HXLT perform live in a city near you, as he will be hitting up SXSW and going on a big North American tour with Young Fathers.

Dreamville is one of the most exciting collectives/labels in rap right now. With talented acts Omen, Bas, Cozz and of course J. Cole, Dreamville is making moves. And today we have Bas’ new music video for his J. Cole assisted record, ‘Night Job’. The dark and smokey visuals for the Dreamville track are directed by Andrew Nisinson for The Super Mookin Fiends, and you can watch the official music video now!
SAVEMONEY rapper and Chicago’s own, Towkio, surprised many with his awesome 2015 project, .Wav Theory, but the emerging rapper is already on to the next one as he recruited his friend and long-time collaborator Vic Mensa for his new record, ‘G W M’. Short for “gang with me”, ‘G W M’ isn’t a gang banging street record, rather it’s a fun Mr. Carmack and Kenny Segal produced track where Towkio raps about his whole squad, which as many know includes Vic, Chance The Rapper and many more. SAVEMONEY isn’t your average rap collective, and Towkio’s new track definitely helps show that.
Phoebe Ryan is one of our favorite emerging acts from 2015 and she is keeping the momentum going in 2016. Debuting her new single on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1, fans can now listen to Ryan’s addictive new track, ‘Chronic’. Ryan is currently on tour with ‘See You Again’ singer/songwriter Charlie Puth, and fans can definitely some memorable performances from both Puth and Ryan, who will be making a stop at Chicago’s Park West on March 22nd.
Watch the official lyric video for ‘Chronic’ below.
Rapper J.R. is creating quite the buzz in his home of St. Louis and in the rap game as a whole. With his forthcoming EP, Gang Season, coming in just a few days (February 26th) today J.R. dropped his visuals for his remix of Kodak Black’s hit track, ‘No Flockin’. The remix bangs, and it’s no surprise that J.R. already has some big co-signs (Nelly, Trey Songz). Expected by many to put St. Louis rap on the map again, J.R. and his upcoming EP are sure to get a lot of hype in 2016.
G.O.O.D. Music signee and Chicago’s own, HXLT, is a singer like nothing Kanye West’s label has seen before. And his debut and self-titled album, HXLT, is only a few days away (February 26th). However although you still have to wait until Friday to purchase the LP, the album is available now for streaming! Give HXLT’s debut a listen and if you like what you hear you can pre-order the 12-track LP now on iTunes.
Chicago’s own, Owen Bones, has recruited an all-star cast of emerging rappers for his new record ‘Stuntman’. With Kevin Abstract and fellow Windy City native Mick Jenkins and a fire beat, the 21-year-old DJ/producer’s new track is an addictive banger. You can find the new record on Bones’ new 3-track EP, Surrender!, which can be heard now on Bandcamp. You definitely don’t want to sleep on this awesome collaboration.
Yesterday rapper Young Thug shared his brand new music video for his track ‘Worth It’, a new record off his forthcoming Slime Season 3 mixtape. Produced by London On The Track and directed by Be EL Be, the sexy music video stars Thugger himself, with his girlfriend Miss Jerrika Karlae. This marks the first released visuals, of what will surely be more, from Thug’s new mixtape.
Minutes ago Vic Mensa shared his new Papa Beatz produced record ‘Danger’, which Mensa originally previewed for fans at Kanye West’s The Life of Pablo album streaming event at Madison Square Garden. While the track is fire, it will surely get a lot of attention due to lyrics aimed directly at the 6 God himself, Drake. In ‘Danger’ Mensa raps,
“I don’t like the way that n*ggas talkin’ like they bulletproof, till they gotta find out what a bullet do. Catch 2 in ya Canada Goose, it’ll turn a n*gga into proof.”
Referencing Drake’s collaboration with the brand Canada Goose, Mensa sent some pretty obvious subliminals Drake’s way, essentially warning Drake that he’ll catch a bullet if he keeps acting the way he does. It will certainly be interesting to see if Drake decides to respond, but if so, don’t expect Vic to catch as many Ls as Meek Mill.
UPDATE: Kanye has now announced that his album The Life of Pablo is being mastered and will be out today (with a couple news tracks as well)!
Following his huge Madison Square Garden album listening party slash Yeezy Season 3 fashion show, Kanye has released a brand new track via SoundCloud. Although it is still uncertain when his anticipated LP, The Life of Pablo, will release officially, Kanye’s new track ’30 Hours’ is another new G.O.O.D. Friday record. “Now that the album is finally finished it’s back to Good Fridays,” Kanye wrote to fans on Twitter.
While the new record is certainly another quality record that Kanye has officially released this year, it definitely makes fans anxious that The Life of Pablo won’t release today, or perhaps in the immediate future. Many fans anticipated that the album would have released yesterday, soon before or after Kanye’s MSG event, however such was not the case. We won’t complain about new music though, so definitely enjoy the record!
