5 Can’t Miss Chicago Concerts in April: Olivia Rodrigo, John Mayer & More

As the last snowflakes melt throughout the city, the live music scene is gaining momentum in Chicago, paving the way for what will certainly be an epic festival season in the summer. And while we can’t wait for festivals like Lollapalooza, the Windy City Smoke Out and more, there are some amazing shows coming to Chicago this month and at some historic venues.

From a couple big nights at the United Center with John Mayer, to Olivia Rodrigo’s highly anticipated 2-night residency at the Aragon Ballroom which sold-out in seconds, there are some huge shows coming to a venue near you in April.

John Mayer @ the United Center (April 28th & 29th)

John Mayer is bringing his Sob Rock arena tour to the United Center on April 28th and the 29th. Headlining the home of the Blackhawks and Bulls in support of his newest LP, these are a couple shows that you won’t want to miss. Some tickets still remain for both nights, so get your tickets now at Ticketmaster while you still can.

Charli XCX @ the Aragon Ballroom (April 29th)

Charli XCX brings a fun energy to all of her live performances and that’s why you will want to see her live at the Aragon near the end of the month. We last enjoyed her performance opening for Taylor Swift’s Reputation tour before the pandemic and we can’t wait to see what her latest headlining tour will be like.

Olivia Rodrigo @ the Aragon Ballroom (April 15th & 16th)

Olivia Rodrigo is kicking off her first ever headlining tour early this month in Portland. With support from Gracie Abrams and performances from her critically acclaimed debut album, Sour, it is no surprise that her entire tour sold out in just a matter of minutes. Tickets for both of her upcoming shows at the Aragon Ballroom are of course sold-out, so hopefully you either were one of the lucky ones to get tickets or fingers crossed she will return to Chicago soon on a bigger stage. Rodrigo has been the biggest name in music for a little over a year now and fans can’t wait for her Chicago debut.

Lorde @ the Chicago Theatre (April 22nd & 23rd)

Lorde is set to make her Chicago return later this month on April 22nd and 23rd with back-to-back performances at the historic Chicago Theatre. Currently on her Solar Power tour, the “Royals” singer will surely put on a show that the city won’t soon forget.

Tate McRae @ the House of Blues (April 9th)

Tate McRae is one of the biggest emerging names in pop music today. McRae blew fans away when she opened for names like Doja Cat and Lil Nas X for the iHeart Radio Jingle Ball at the Allstate Arena a few months ago, but she will surely deliver when she brings her headlining show to the House of Blues on April 9th.
