Canadian singer and songwriter, Ruth B, brought her headlining tour to S.P.A.C.E. in Evanston, IL last night, hitting the road in support of her brand new debut LP, Safe Haven. Performing tracks from her new album for her Chicago-area fans, Ruth B, has impressed us ever since her performance at the Chicago Theatre last year with Alessia Cara, and tonight was no exception.
What’s perhaps most impressive about Ruth B is her writing, which says a lot since she kills it on the piano and her voice is candy for your ears. Since Ruth emerged into the pop music scene with her hit single ‘Lost Boy’, she has been prepping for the release of her new album, which Ruth wrote and composed all 12 tracks herself, along with producers Joel Little and Mike Elizondo.
While keeping fans engaged throughout the performance, highlights of Ruth’s set included her performances of ‘Superficial Love’ and her newest single ‘If This is Love’, and of course ‘Lost Boy’, which her fans sang with her from start to finish.
Bringing her headlining tour to one of the more unrepresented cities in the Chicago area, fans were treated to an intimate performance with a rising star. Evidenced by her songwriting and production, Ruth B has a connection to her music that most pop artists aren’t able to match, and her audience gets to benefit as a result.
