Releases for Record Store Day Black Friday (Including Outkast, Death Grips, Green Day, Diplo, and South Park)

Ever since 2008, vinyl has been seeing a huge revival, with more and more records being bought each year. In fact, vinyl sales this year are projected to go up 8.9 million this year. One of the reasons for this comeback has been Record Store Day, which was started in 2007 by independent record store owners who wanted to celebrate and spread the spotlight on themselves. Since then, the day has grown bigger and bigger and this year, they will be celebrating Black Friday by having exclusive releases for independent record stores. The Flaming Lips – Atlas Eets Christmas – first widespread release of their extremely limited edition “secret” 2007 Christmas CD, now on transparent red vinyl, limited to 5,000

Jimi Hendrix – Hear My Music – re-release of 2004 authorized bootleg by Dagger Records (featuring unreleased studio recordings from 1969) on 200-gram wax double LP, each individually numbered

Velvet Underground – LIVE MCMXCIII – 4 LP reissue of rare 1993 CD on blue vinyl

Miles Davis – More from the Fillmore – LP of classic 1970 live recordings

Disco Biscuits – The Classical Set – 2003 live recording from Tennessee’s TranceMission Festival featuring covers of classical compositions (and Biscuit originals with classical arrangements) on vinyl for the first time; includes download card and bonus track

Grateful Dead – Double LP recording of November 18, 1972 set at Houston’s Hoffheinz Pavilion on 180 gram vinyl with gatefold sleeve, first time on vinyl

Gov’t Mule –  Stoned Side of the Mule Volume 1 –  LP of 7 Rolling Stones covers recorded live on Halloween 2009 on 180 gram vinyl

Green Day – Tune In Tokyo – 2001 live recording available worldwide for the first time on transparent blue vinyl, limited to 5,000

Death Grips – Government Plates – previously digital-only album available on vinyl for the first time

They Might Be Giants – Flood –  1990 album reissued on green (2,900) and yellow (100) vinyl

Morrissey Curates The Ramones – double LP “best of” comp with a tracklist selected by the former Smiths frontman, limited to 4,400 copies

Diplo – F10rida – 3LP on 180 gram vinyl with 10 page booklet and download card

The Dead Milkmen – Big Lizard In My Backyard –  1985 album reissued on red (2,900) and green (100) vinyl

Kinks – Muswell Hillbillies – deluxe double-LP ‘Legacy Edition’ of classic 1971 album with a bonus disc of rarities, outtakes and BBC Peel Sessions

Genesis – From Genesis To Revelation – reissue of 1969 debut album, limited to 1500

Fishbone – Truth and Soul –  1988 album reissued on green (2,900) and yellow (100) vinyl

Husker Du  – Warehouse:  Songs and Stories – Double LP reissue on neon green neon yellow vinyl

Christmas Rap – reissue of 1987 compilation featuring Run DMC’s “Christmas In Hollis” and others, on red and green vinyl

Elvis Presley — Showroom Internationale – double LP reissue of 1971 concert on 180-gram vinyl

Dave Matthews Band – Recently – 1994 EP re-release as individually numbered 10-inch, along with the rare promo EP, Pumpkin Recently and free download of both discs

Joe Satriani – Joe Satriani EP – 12″ vinyl 30th anniversary edition reissue each individually numbered, remastered on 180 gram vinyl.

Joan Jett – flexi book and 7″ – book designed by Todd Oldham chronicles Joan’s career  from The Runaways to the Blackhearts through many never-before-seen photos and excerpts from thirty years of interviews curated with Joan; exclusive live 7″ vinyl of “Bad Reputation” with Pat Smear, “You Don’t Know What You’ve Got,” “TMI” and “Cherry Bomb”

Joey Ramone – Christmas Spirit…In My House – 10″ vinyl  reissue of 2002 posthumous holiday comp

Umphrey’s McGee  – “October Rain” – 7″ of new song backed with “Room to Breathe”

Mother Love Bone – “Hold Your Head Up” – 7″ of unreleased Argent cover backed with “Holy Roller” from the Apple Sessions

Ra Ra Riot – “Two Hearts Beat as One” – 7″ of U2 cover backed with demo of “Wilderness”

J Mascis – “Fade Into You” – 7″ single of the Mazzy Star song, previously released with shoes by Keep,  backed with “Outside,” includes free download, limited to 4,000

David Bowie – “Sue (Or In a Season of Crime)” – 10-inch single backed with “’Tis a Pity She Was a Whore” and the radio edit of ‘Sue’

Miles Davis — “Blue XMas” – 7″release of 1962 alt Christmas classic featuring Bob Dorough (of Schoolhouse Rock! fame), backed with “Devil May Care” (another Dorough original featuring Davis) on blue vinyl in a picture sleeve

Bessie Smith — “At The Christmas Ball” – 7″ single on red vinyl backed with “Jazzbo Brown from Memphis Town”

South Park – “James Cameron” – 7″ picture disc backed with “My Bitch Ain’t No Hobbit,” limited to 2,500 copies

First Aid Kit – “America” – Simon and Garfunkel cover backed with unreleased original “Brother” and two acoustic tracks from Stay Gold

Metallica “Lords of Summer” – 12″ of a live recordings and the “First Pass” version of this 2014 song backed with an etching of their logo on the B side

Jenny Lewis – “Pax-Am Sessions” 7″ – alternate versions of “Just One of the Guys” and “You Can’t Outrun ‘Em” produced by Ryan Adams and Mike Viola,  limited to 5,000

Mastodon – “The Motherload” – 12″ picture disc backed with an instrumental version of “Halloween,” limited to 5,000

Conor Oberst – “Standing On The Outside Looking In” – 7″ single of the unreleased song backed with another Upside Down Mountain out-take, “Sugar Street;” both produced by Jonathan Wilson; 33RPM in single pocket art sleeve, limited to 3,000

Against Me! – 7″ record of their Daytrotter Sessions, limited to 2,000

OutKast – “Player’s Ball” – translucent green 10″ single backed by a “rare extended version”

Wu-Tang Clan – “C.R.E.A.M.” – die cut picture disc single cut in the shape of the group’s logo, backed with “The Mystery Of Chessboxin’”

Echosmith – “Cool Kids” – 12″ picture disc backed with a previously unreleased remix by RAC (Tegan & Sara), limited to 3,000

Ed Sheeran – “Thinking Out Loud” – 7″ single backed with “I’m A Mess,” both recorded live at Lightship 95; limited to 3,000

Wham – “Last Christmas” – 12″ vinyl reissue on translucent red and green split wax
