Submission Showcase: February 16th – 22nd 2015

‘Submission Showcase’ is a weekly column where we go through songs submitted to us and showcase the best ones. If you’d like to submit music to us, find out how to here.

Kossisko – This May Be Me

Okay. Okay. I don’t know how to describe this, so I’ll try. You’ll never guess who this is. Come on. Okay, it’s 100s. Yes, that 100s. That 100s where you jumped in a car on GTA V and his ‘Life Of A Mack’ played. But now, 100s is Kossisko. Get it? Got it? Good. Kossisko’s new single, ‘This May Be Me’, the video to whom premiered on The Fader earlier this week. ‘This May Be Me’, as mentioned before, is really hard to describe. It’s almost like if someone bought the 80s back and made it all gothic and kinky. Sort of like that. But it’s SO GOOD. Anyway, listen to the track below, and if you don’t like it, well, your loss.

Rene Brown – RELAPSE [Prod. By BRIX]

LA-based rapper Rene Brown hits us with the second track from her #wcw (Who’s Checkin Wednesday) series, ‘Relapse’. The BRIX-produced track features Rene going absolutely beserk, spitting 3 minutes of pure fire. Man. Check it out below.

Partners in Irony – Control (feat. Meg Hollobaugh)

This is fire! According to the Ohio-based hip-hop duo:
“‘Control’ is focused on the idea of being in the situation of simultaneously loving another person and yet not knowing whether the relationship is built to last. But rather than simply recounting a story, We instead use their voices, lyrics and the instrumentation to emulate the mood that accompanies this situation, accurately capturing the emotion.”
And it works. I could relate to the track, something that rarely occurs with these types of submissions. Not to mention the outro, sung by Meg Hollobaugh (who also features on the hook), with some harmonies from the Partners In Irony themselves, is insanely good. Take a listen below, and enjoy.
