William Shatner gave Madison fans a chance to revisit Captain Kirk on the big screen before spending some time with the man behind the character. The actor visited the Orpheum Theater on Wednesday, October 28, for an evening built around a full screening of Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, followed by stories, humor and a lengthy conversation onstage.

The film came first, giving the evening the feel of a movie night before the live portion began. Following a 15-minute intermission, Shatner took the stage and spent roughly 15 minutes walking around, telling tales and sharing some light humor before settling into the moderated discussion.

What followed was approximately 90 minutes of questions and conversation, with Shatner’s personality carrying the evening well beyond the closing credits. At 95, his sharpness and easy sense of humor stood out, making the opportunity to hear him tell his own stories as much of a draw as the film itself.

For fans who have spent years watching Shatner command the Enterprise, the Orpheum appearance offered a more personal encounter with the actor. Pairing the screening with an extended onstage appearance gave both the performance and the personality behind it room to shine.
