A little melody makes the heavy stuff hit harder. That balance sits at the center of ALLEYCVT’s music, pairing pop sensibilities with the weight of dubstep. On Friday, the producer and singer brought that combination to The Sylvee in Madison, headlining a bill featuring Flozone, Muxia and Phrequency.
Born in Virginia and now based in Los Angeles, ALLEYCVT approaches electronic music with a songwriter’s instincts. Her sound makes room for emotion alongside the bass, drawing on influences including Flux Pavilion, Zeds Dead and Subtronics. A formative experience seeing GRiZ helped shape her interest in bringing those musical worlds together.
That creative identity extends to her visual aesthetic, which mixes cyberpunk imagery with psychedelic influences. It’s a fitting framework for an artist whose work connects melodic accessibility with the more abrasive edges of bass music.
With three supporting acts joining the Madison bill, Friday’s show gave local electronic music fans a full evening of reasons to get to The Sylvee early.
