Submission Showcase: September 28th – October 4th 2015

‘Submission Showcase’ is a weekly column where we go through songs submitted to us and showcase the best ones. If you’d like to submit music to us, find out how to here.

Amiir – “32 & Some Change”

We’ve featured him before, but Chicago native Amiir is back again to kick off this week’s submissions, this time in the form of ’32 & Some Change’, a ThatKidMyself production. The two team up for this smooth, sample-led track which features what sounds like a nice little electric piano, which Amiir drops bar after bar of great lyricism, mixed with some great punchlines before switching the production up to feature trap snares and hi hats, while still incorporating the original sample. It’s amazing. Listen below and look out for more from the aspiring rapper soon.

JayOH Birch – “Back On Road”

I like this one. Toronto-based rapper JayOH Birch hits us with ‘Back On Road’, a bounce-based track about coming back to get back on top, all while using great lyrical content and flow at the same time. The production is insanely good too, ‘bounce’ meaning that the kicks are sequenced to make you literally bounce your head to the track. A smooth track overall. Check it out and watch the video here.

Unnveig Aas – “Run”

To end this week’s submissions, we have some country-folk out of Norway. Unnveig Aas‘ ‘Run’ features a splendid variety of instruments to create an emotional backdrop for Aas’ lyrical content about having someone quite literally run from the love you want to hear them. For a track that has literally 7 plays on Soundcloud, this is severely underrated, and might be one of the best quality tracks we’ve ever recieved. A+ indeed. Listen below, and look out for her ‘Love EP’ which releases in 4 days.
