Submission Showcase: June 29th – July 5th 2015

BY JAKE WILLS-BENNETT

‘Submission Showcase’ is a weekly column where we go through songs submitted to us and showcase the best ones. If you’d like to submit music to us, find out how to here.

Does this count as a birthday special since it was my birthday yesterday?

Slow Turismo – I Sit Down As Soon As I Get Up

Slow Turismo are back again! The Australian band returns with a new single, ‘I Sit Down As Soon As I Get Up’, which features some great singing, as well as almost math-rock style verses. Would ‘great as always’ be a good thing to say? Because it is. The band’s single-titled EP will be released on July 24th, so go get it!

BECOME X Elohim – She Talks Too Much

Racking up 96k plays in 11 days, musical collective BECOME‘s remix of LA-based singer Elohim’s ‘She Talks Too Much’ is some pure flame. Sounding like a mix of something you would hear in a Midnight Club game and an almost EDM-influenced trap beat, this remix is one for the city. And the club. And everywhere. Listen below.

Leonard Cohen – Nevermind (PillowTalk Rerub)

San Francisco-based disco-pop-house? trio PillowTalk have decided to give Leonard Cohen’s ‘Nevermind’ a disco-pop-house? edit, and, well, it sounds pretty good. Some nice rolling drums, accompanied with a bass pattern which never strays too far. Very well done for something that features a spoken word poem on top of it. Check it out.
