Submission Showcase: April 27th – May 3rd 2015

BY JAKE WILLS-BENNETT

‘Submission Showcase’ is a weekly column where we go through songs submitted to us and showcase the best ones. If you’d like to submit music to us, find out how to here.

Lil Silva – New Squeeze

Boyyyyyy. ‘New Squeeze’ the second track from UK-based producer Lil Silva‘s forthcoming release on Good Years Records is absolutely mad. I don’t even know how to describe it. It’s like 8-bit funk. It’s crazy. Little stabs that become a long chord are supported by a rolling drumbeat of one of the nicest snares I have ever heard, as well as some insanely tweaked hi-hats. Will definitely look to buy this when it comes out. Silva’s Drumatic EP is out on May 10th.

Colornoise – Amalie

This one is interesting. Costa Rican noise-rock band Colornoise‘s new single ‘Amalie’ mixes the twang of country music with sweet vocals and guitar strumming of hard rock. It all comes together to make an insanely atmospheric track, which reeks of FIFA soundtrack. In a good way. Hopefully this makes it onto FIFA 16! Check out the single below and look out for more tracks from this trio soon.

Ben Carrigan – The Sweetest Stories (feat. Tom Cross)

Irish musician Ben Carrigan‘s ‘The Seweetest Stories’, featuring New Zealand-based singer Tom Cross, is a very dramatic ballad about life, and growing up. The reason it’s so dramatic is because aside from featuring your normal band instrumentation, it brings in strings and piano, as well as synchronized “Ah”s to make a song that you’d hear in movies and TV shows and stuff. It’s quite an emotional track. Anyway, the single is out on the 1st of June, but you can stream it below. And check out his other stuff on his Soundcloud too!
