‘Submission Showcase’ is a weekly column where we go through songs submitted to us and showcase the best ones. If you’d like to submit music to us, find out how to here.
OJ Killa – FWYS (Feat. Roh & Gogohead Kash)
DC rapper OJ Killa hits us with this drug dealer-trap cut, ‘FWYS’ (the hook helps you understand the abbreviation). This Young Chop-style production features Roh and Gogohead Kash, who provide some great verses, as well as OJ on the hook and first verse. A good track for the whip.
Sosa – Boro Dropout (Freestyle) [Prod. By Souliv]
Yes, Pittsburgh artist Sosa has been featured here before. No, his alias is not the same as Chief Keef’s (Sharing with Others’ Soulful Avenues, see how cool that is!). Yes, it seems like every week I root for him to make the submission showcase. Because I do. Here he is again with this ‘Boro Dropout’ freestyle. Produced by Souliv, this track is three minutes of straight heat, with Sosa providing bars upon bars of said heat, switching his flow up every now and then to keep it interesting. Seriously, check it out.
Megaciph – CIVIL.i.AM
It’s that time again. What time? Time for a deep track! Woo! New York-based rapper/interesting character Megaciph drops some deep, thought-provoking lyrics over a trap production. See what that is? That’s bending the rules! And it’s good! Anyway, there’s breaks in the track which basically serves as a hook for Mega (let’s call him that) to talk about how he’s a civil person, and wants to live without being shot while unarmed, seeing as that happened a lot last year. There’s also a really interesting dubsteppy (I guess?) outro which is nice. Take a listen below.
